Not really accurate, but I couldn't think of a more provocative title. On Shop.Mattel, the Elites used to be $16.99 (or $14.99 in Flashback Christian's case), but now they're $19.99! Not cool!

That is crazy for one figure. I rarely buy Elites and just usually buy the flashback of the set. Looks like i will stick to that. I really don't even buy basics that much anymore b/c of the price.

Maybe they will stop making figures that we don't want. If they stopped packing mysterio, sin cara, cena, and other mass figures in the elite line and become more collector friendly, I don't mind the $20 price. But, if ringside raises their case prices I'll start considering looking for them at retail more often.

This is disgusting, especially when Mattel themselves said that they would'nt raise their own prices.

well, it is the beginning of a new fiscal year. it COULD be a permanent jump, more and more retail outlets have had the prices creep up over the last 18-24months. but i just hope its temporary as they're having a "sale" on all wwe figs ($10 off $50 order and i think $25 off $100 order) and maybe they're just jacking up the price so they don't really have to sell what they have (which is a pretty good selection imo) at even lower prices.
never understood why they had only E20 christian and he was $2 cheaper than all the other elites, and i hope that he actually sells so they don't go and pull back on the number of flashbacks both in the series and cases.
though i think $19.99 is a tad high for an elite, $11.99 isn't all that horrible for a basic. look at the star wars or marvel lines, specifically the 3 3/4" scaled ones. they all cost just about $10 at retail these days too, so it's all relative. Elites should cost more (duh) but like i said, $19.99 is high. i'd like it to be 17.99-18.99. i just don't like the thought of a single figure costing more than $20 after tax at retail.
**flashback to when Jakks figures approached the $10 mark...**

The prices on Mattel figures are ridiculous especially on RSC. Even in stores though $11.99 for basics $14.99-$16.99 for Elites! I only get paid $9.65 an hr at my part time job. That means not even one hr of work can buy me a "wrassin toy" for some people it's less.
Basics should be $7.99 Elites $9.99-$11.99 but that's never gonna happen! I don't remember ever having to pay that much for WWE and iv bought them off and on since the Hasbro days! Yeah those figures were ALOT different than these and the ones of today and probably cost less to make but I do believe the prices are alittle....out there.

Watch- in 2 years basic figures will go for $15 and elites will go for $30 and yet MDT will still say "Nope! Sorry! Couldn't make that shirt AND title work for CM Punks Elite! Costs were too high."

This is why I keep saying not to trust anything MDT says on here.....they want to make the best figures and give us awesome accessories and keep the prices low, but at the end of the day, all decisions are made by a person in a boardroom based on money.

We really should, I too enjoyed ordering from Mattel Shop for the price of elites but now I'm just gonna have to wait for retail for everything. And elites in the toysrus I go to sell for 22.99 plus tax, it's like there no where to get a break now, I'm gonna have to cut back

I am normally on the the first to complain but then when I saw that even Hasbro decided to cut down on their 3 3/4" figures to keep costs low it is scary.
I think pretty soon we have to consider if this hobby is worth the trouble and cost. I'll still continue to by Elites, but that would mean having to sacrifice buying other toys.
I remember a time in my life were it was nothing to get few figures a week from different lines. Now I literally have enough to only spend on one Elite fig per week which is better than most can say. Luckily for me Elites are so hard to come by that by the time I see a certain set I actually have enough money to pick up a few from all the weeks of not finding them in stores. Still sucks as I want to add some of those new 6" Iron Man figs to my collection, but I am too afraid to pull the trigger.
That is another victim in this economy... Marvel Legends. I remember a time when they were $7.99 or $8.99 and they would not only come with a base or BAF part (and a very large BAF part at that might I add) but they also came in clamshell packages, and with a comich book. Less than 10 years later they come with a much smaller BAF part, no comic, and standard blister carding for $16.99. What is wrong with this picture.
What is boils down too is that times are tough.

Maybe when there's a sale. WM is the only place they're 16.99. KM is 17.99 and TRU is now 19.99. 21.99 for BOPPV

Of course your pay check doesn't go up. But operation costs do go up as well as all the COO and board of director's saleries. Meanwhile you read or see most companies "have to downsize" yet you read in the next sentence how the COO is getting a couple million dollar pay raise. lol

I noticed the price jump over the weekend. Before the price jump, I was able to score some good stuff over the past few weeks including E19 Liz, E19 Brock, B24 AJ and E20 Christian at good prices with free shipping (thanks to some codes). But now, at these new prices, I may only get something on there if I can't find at retail. If these price jumps are indicative of a jump at retail, I may have to cut down. Mattel Shop is currently doing a sale on WWE products and I wonder if they jacked up the prices for the sale.
