I was over at Wrestling Zone and read that WWE can now use Owen Hart's likeness without the threat of a lawsuit from his widow, Miss Martha. The WWE and Martha settled. When can we expect our first Owen figure since FOREVER!?!?!?!

Nope. Likeness has nothing to do with Mattel. It's more for video footage. I think it's time for Mattel Design Team to just come out and say it like Jakk's did so these threads will stop. There never will be a modern Owen Hart figure made due to the events of the past 20 years.

WrestlingZone: Although no details have been released from either side, the lawsuit between WWE and Martha Hart seems to have finally reached an end as of this Wednesday. The suit has kept WWE from using any likeness of former WWE wrestler Owen Hart, who died tragically in 1999. From this point forward, WWE has the legal right to use the name and likeness of Owen Hart in their programming and various other productions, with Martha - his widow - receiving compensation and royalties.

Meaning they can make DVDs of him or include his matches on DVDs. They can't create new merchandise without her permission. They can do DVDs because they own the footage. They don't own the rights to make figures of him.

Still need Martha to sign a legends contract for there to be a figure. That was about the WWE's personal archives footage and royalties

Mattel said many times that we won't get Scott Hall/Razor Ramon and yet we have the occasional threat about him every once in a while

That just means they can use him for videos, magazines & the like. The deal was w/ WWE. Not Mattel. Just because WWE can use him, doesn't necessarily mean that Mattel can. They may not even want to because of all the stigma the lawsuit created around the name. After all this time I don't know how good a seller the figure would be either. There are tons of die-hard collectors that would get him, but a lot of the younger fans probably haven't even heard of him thanks to the ban on using his name & likeness. I will be surprised if Owen ever gets made as an action figure again.
