Kane (E12) is far from a current Kane considering its been at least 15 years since he last wore that attire. Yeah that's not current at all, and Big Bossman has been dead for a long while now, and hasn't wore his cop outfit since the early 90's, Yokozuna too has been dead a while now, still both are far from current. HBK retired 2-3 years ago, and doesn't wrestle at all anymore, but a once a year debut to special ref a match or manage Triple H. Still E19 Michaels and HBK today both look totally different to say its a wasted Flashback spot. Papa Shango, aint been seen since the early 90's. Kevin Nash and Diesel both from the 90's, and Christian has short hair now and his latest flashback elite has the long hair from 15 years ago too. So its not really wasting spots on current superstars cause over 3/4 of the flashbacks they given us, are not current superstars and haven't had that look they gave us in 15-20 years. So I don't think they are "wasting" spots at all.

Technically they would still be flashbacks in the attires you specified, therefore less space for current attires and new people to come out.

I'm happy we still get some kind of Legends, but Very bummed out the majority of them are attitude era and above. I've bought so many Kane's, Edge's, Christian's, Micheals, HHH's in my life time, I honestly dont care to ever buy them again. Same with the Rock & Stone Cold.
I really want more 80's, early 90's guys. there so many that deserve a spot:
Big John Studd HERCULES (hasnt had a fig since LJN) Ric Flair Junkyard Dog Brutus Beefcake (Barber and/or Dream Team version) Doink (Evil) Earthquake (Blue w/Yellow shock thing) Koko B. Ware One Man Gang King Harley Race Bad News Brown Mountie Razor Ramon Lex Luger (USA & Narcassist) Sid Justice The Barbarian The Warlord Giant Gonzales Adam Bomb Tatanka Nikita Koloff Berzerker King Haku Crush (Kona,Evil & Demo) Jim Neidhart Dino Bravo Butch Reed (Natural) Adrian Adonis (Adorable) Bulldogs Hart Foundation Powers of Pain Killer Bees LOD Red Bobby Heenan Mr. Fuji Jimmy Hart Slick Capt Lou Albano
Obviously Hogan, Sting, Double J, etc cant be made right now.
How about some repaints, LESS Current guys or attitude guys and more Legends.
HBK (1992 IC Champ) Undertaker (Purple Gloves) Warrior (RR91 USA) SGT (Camo) Snuka (Barefoot) Perfect (Yellow w/ponytail) Steamboat (White WM 3) Rude (Long Hair) Andre (80's)

Since mattel says legends don't sell because kids don't know who they are. so that kane could have been packed regular and flashback given to someone else. you really are taking what I said putting your own spin on it and making it something else, but that's cool. the Main point of this is that mattel says older people don't sell to masses. flashbacks are short packed already and if they are current or close to current there is no reason to give them flashback no matter the attire. that's my point

I watched wrestling from '97 until '03ish. So the flashbacks we've gotten have usually been perfect for me. I know I don't represent the only age group that collects figures, but I'm not complaining about the selection. Guys like Big Bossman, Papa Shango, and Honky Tonk Man don't interest me as much as Attitude era guys do.
Ideally, it'd be great to see a Matty Collector Legends line with all the '80s guys people want, oriented towards collectors and not towards kids who want a new Rey or Cena. But if Mattel can't make money that way, then I doubt we'll see it.

Just because it says "Kane" on the box doesn't mean a kid watching Raw in 2013 will know it's Kane as he appeared in 1997. I understand your point, but you're the one who's altering the meaning of the word "flashback" to mean "legend."

I completely agree, I'd rather see new (old?) wrestlers in the Flashback line instead of just past versions of current wrestlers. We've already got enough elite Kanes to last us.
There are still plenty of past names that will sell. It's not my favorite era, but as much as Mattel has released from the Attitude era, they've barely scratched the surface. I have a hard time believing that Dude Love, Gangrel, or Ken Shamrock wouldn't sell.
I'm all about the '80s and pre-Attitude guys, and I think that many of those would sell to people with only a passing familiarity of the wrestlers just based on how cool the figures would look. I think Mattel would do a killer job on figures like Repo Man or Luna Vachon.

Well, if Flashbacks consisted more of 80's wrestlers, the line would be dead by Mattel standards.
I wished Legends, Legends 2-Packs and Legends on Matty.com lines weren't dead. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

I've been saying for a while now - I wish we could get a guaranteed 2 Flashbacks per-series... one, an 80's/90's Legends-type guy (Papa Shango, Big Bossman, Yokozuna, Diesel, Liz, Honky Tonk Man etc.) and the other, an earlier version of a current or more mainstream guy (Kane, Edge, Booker T, Undertaker, HBK etc.). I think this would please most fans and collectors.
If need be, make the Legends-type guy 0.5 per case... it would suck - but I'd much rather see them released like this than not at all.

I'd also like to see this. I think we're at the point where most of the main roster is out in Elite form - at least the guys who will sell at retail, anyway. Time to be a little more generous with the Flashbacks, maybe? There are still a lot of "big names" left. I think a series with, say for isntance, Brock Lesnar in trunks with the Undisputed title (current wrestler) and Earthquake ('80s/'90s 'Legends' figure) would do great. Or how about 1997 Undertaker (current wrestler) and Dude Love ('80s/'90s 'Legend')? We're still a long, long way from running out of Flashbacks that will sell at retail.

What about guys like JYD, Don Muraco, Dino Bravo, Anvil, Crush, Powers of Pain, Bulldogs, natural Disasters, Rougeau brothers... I can list these guys all day, but you get it. This is a way everyone gets what they want.

Jakks CS line spoiled us. We got so many random off the wall guys that they're expected to be in the Mattel lines.Id like to see some 80s/90s guys too, but you see how bad E18 Taker warms, imagine a Greg Valentine or a Brutus Beefcake hanging on a peg amidst a sea of Cena, Mysterio, Orton and Brodus, because more than likely that's what would happen.

I don't see any Elite Flashbacks warming let alone the Taker which was probably his worst gimmick. As far as pegwarmers go all I see are e18 Brodus and e19 Bryan (and a couple Zigglers up north)

I mean my walmarts are loaded with clay and bryan righ now. I was actually taking advantage of a price natch a few weeks ago and getting bryans for $11 just for parts like the kickers. I did the same with the zigglers and E20 punk and rhodes.

I've literally NEVER seen you make a post on this board where you aren't complaining about Legends/Flashbacks. We get it. You're disappointed in the selection. It's not always in Mattel's hands. They have to get WWE's permission to make characters, too. And if retailers say, "we don't want legends," then there's not much they can do.
We forget this is a kids toy line sometime. Obviously, they're going to focus on characters that are around now or are fresh in people's minds.

I think the .5 case idea is good but bad. Mattel's idea of .5 percase is that one distrubutor will have cases with said FB where other distributors will have the cases with out the FB.
If it were truly a .5 case system like a store orders 6 cases and 3 out of those 6 will have the FB then I'd think we would be alright. Also it would help if stores actually ordered Elites on a regular basis. My target literally orders 1 case they sell quick, then it'll be a month or so before they order another case. Not enough availability for collectors where it concerns the sought after 80's guys.
As far a wasted spots go... I'd rather a current Superstar's former gimmick compared to yet another Orton, Cena, or Rey. Or should there be another Orton, etc. at least we get a kick@$$ FB like HTM. Cause lord knows his figure ate up Mattel's so called budget hence why we do have Orton and Rey in E21.
