Even the flashbacks in elite line consist mostly of current roster. HBK not retired long enough to be a flashback could easily have gotten regular spot. Kane still current and could have gotten that attire with current spot. Edge same as HBK. Christain also same as HBK Booker T he gets plenty of air time so he could have been released as current. So only flashbacks that were really a legend were Liz, Nash/Diesel, Shango, Mankind, bossman, and HTM. Ihate to see wasted flashback spots when there are some many 80's people that should get figures. That's a true flashback not like 10 years ago it should have to be atleast 20 years to get that spot. Mattel short packs lgends and says they don't get air time and don't sell yet they base their sales on what retailers order not what we buy. So what do they mean flashbacks don't sell? This coming from the same company who claimed flexforce was a top seller then all of the sudden it's cancled because it does not sell. I'm glad flexforce got cancled, but wish it was replaced with something other than more crap that will clog shelves and again get cancled. I also wish instead of putting the blame for legends sales on the consumer that they would own up to their attire choices killing the line and give it one more go with proper attire choices. Not some made up or obscure choices. Mattel really does a great job on figures, but some of the arrire choices take a great figure and make it a peg warmer.
EDIT:The Main point of this was that mattel says older people don't sell to masses and that whole airtime excuse. flashbacks are short packed already and if they are current or close to current there is no reason to give them flashback no matter the attire. That's my point

I think you left Yoko off your Flashback list. Also, by your logic of Edge and Michaels not being retired/off TV long enough Nash shouldn't be eligible either since had a WWE run and wrestled several matches after both of them were gone.

And Foley, Shango (Godfather) and HTM have been around in the past year. I just wish they'd give us more 80's and early 90's NWA/WCW. |

Really Nash had a run with WWE for several matches since 2010? That's when HBK retired. Better yet he would have had to have several matches since april 2011 when edge retired to make your statement true. You said it yourself. Sales are based on what retailers order. It doesn't matter what we buy, because if retailers aren't interested in stocking it then it's a failure. Flexforce was their top selling line for 2 years because that was the line every retailer (including supermarkets and pharmacies) were ordering the most. So that was the line they were selling the most of. Legends,Defining Moments, Entrance Greats all were cancelled not because we weren't buying them, but because retailers decided they didn't want to sell them.

Flashback doesn't mean legends no matter how much you want it to be. Flash back is a look into the past, even if a handful of years ago. The most recent attires flashback was what, edge and Christian from 99-2000? Whether the superstar in question hasn't been gone long, the fig/attire has been. Over 10 yrs ago min it seems. Also allows them create anyone one they want without the backlash of "how is he a legend? Legend line should be for legends ect ect"
I'd prefer a separate line, however I'm ok with current model.
That's my opinion.

Given the fact that the Legends line is gone, I'm pretty happy with the Flashbacks
We've got a nice assortment of talent, and truth be told....most of those guys that "we all want" do NOT appeal to the mass market so there is no point in Mattel investing thousands of dollars to produce them
I actually really love the Flashbacks we've gotten, and beisdes Yokozuna's arms I think every one of them is pretty much perfect, plus it gives us something cool and unique in each Elite set.

It's still a flashback, a glimpse into Bookers past, giving us an iconic attire that he no longer wears. I love the idea of flashbacks and will continue buying them So do I. Honestly, (and I know I'm in the minority here) I prefer the FB route to having a dedicated a legends line. I was just saying that King Booker broke the "10 years" pattern. |

We're not going to get a bunch of 80s guys that deserve figures because Mattel cant figure out how to properly case them. While Magnum TA is my most wanted figure (that I know Mattel has signed), I know its not going to appeal to all the little kiddies that whine for Cena and Mysterio. However, if you pack Magnum .5 every 2 cases....You wont have him hanging around on shelves, you know like Cena, Orton, Mysterio do at 18 per case) and you dont alienate your older fan base as well as collectors. I guess if the Elite 18 Undertaker Flashbacks ever leave my Kmart, I might get the chance to see something from the 80s
