I honestly don't think feeding them to Cena was what killed their momentum. Daniel Bryan getting fired totally took the momentum out of the angle seeing as he was pretty much the only one in the group that anyone had a reason to care about.

The original Nexus angle was pretty exciting because it was fairly original and stemmed from the original season of NXT

I honestly just had a "eh" kind of reaction. I was excited to see Bryan doing something, but thought the resto f the guys were extremely green. Bryan was gone after a few days and so was any chance of me liking the stable.

I remember being very excited, then rapidly losing said excitement when Bryan got fired, I realised none of them were any better than mediocre in the ring (Wade is a lot better now), and Cena killed their momentum after the famous DDT incident at Summerslam. Truth be told I basically hated the way Nexus were handled for 90% of their run, but even though I didn't see a lot of super talented guys at the time, the whole story could have been absolute gold. It's one of those where I look back and say "Damn, they really dropped the ball on that angle"

I was without internet at the time The Nexus debuted, but they have left a big impact on me as a wrestling fan; i'll never forget them.
The idea of eight guys who came from nowhere to team up and fight everyone regardless of alignment is still one of the most original concepts to date.

It was a good angle at first but once it became just something for Cena to overcome, It died down FAST.

I didn't really think it was a big deal. I only really cared about Daniel Bryan, and once he got released I really didn't care at all. I was more interested in Kane being the World Heavyweight Champion on Smackdown at the time.

Seeing Bryan come back was a mark out moment for me though same here!! but they needed the win to be a credible threat.......but when Superjohnny came back from the DDT on the concrete it was all she wrote for them.
