Just to think, if Sonnen was given more time and survived the round, he'd be the Champion via a TKO.

I know Machida is next in line, but I really want to see Gus get a shot. Bones would most likely win within 2-3 rounds though.

Pretty much how I thought the fight was going to go. Not sure I agree with the stoppage, but it is what it is. I think Chael is done now. There is no more talking for him to do. He's had his title shots in two different weight classes and came up short on all occasions. I think he's done.
It's too bad the referee didn't notice the injury earlier or let the fight continue for the remainder of the round or else Chael would be champ right now. So close, yet so far away. I wonder how long Bones will be out of action for....

Dana said during the press conference that Anderson Silva called him asking about his next fight. Dana didnt say who it was, but when a reporter asked if it was GSP or Jones, he said yes.

Pretty much how I thought the fight was going to go. Not sure I agree with the stoppage, but it is what it is. ...I think it was a fair stoppage - there was no way Chael was going to "improve his position", and there were 20 seconds left which is a quite a bit of time to cause serious damage. And I think Chael knew he was done too... he was classy in defeat, like after the Anderson rematch. If there had been a second round, would the fight automatically have been stopped (because of Jones' toe) - even if he had wanted to continue? That thing looked really nasty... so did Belcher's eye - it was weird the way the card had a lot of freak injuries/stoppages.

I don't think the world would have been ready for Chael to be champion, even if he won by injury. Chael was getting owned in every aspect and getting taken down with ease. The stoppage was fine.

Why do people think that if Chael won by TKO it would have done anything for his career? That would have been a BS win and Bones would have finished him the next rematch. Chael was gracious in defeat which shows that even he knew that he didn't stand a chance.

Chael had no business being there, but I was really rooting for him. No doubt the stoppage was justified, and even if they were allowed a few seconds more there was no way Chael was getting back from it.
Roy Nelson knockout was a thing of beauty.
Also, lots of weird crapgoing on throughout; multiple fingerpokes, announcer botches, weird ref stoppage.

I don't blame Bruce Buffer for that botch. I had a hard time distinguishing between Miller and Healy myself.
