Back when he was in his beating jobbers days, I remember a few people saying he is just going to be built up to feed to Cena. Looks like we are getting just that with his heel turn. It also brings back all the past characters that Cena has halted to a stop such as Umaga, JBL, Khali, Miz, Wade Barrett/Nexus, R-Truth, Kanes recent return push.
Them turning Ryback heel to feed to Cena is one of the dumbest things WWE has done in recent memory. He was one of the most over faces going in WWE.
Super Cena is back at it again!

Blaming Cena for killing all these characters is stupid. It's the fault of the Creative team. They had nothing for these guys so they allowed feuding with Cena to become the be-all end-all of the company.

I think Ryback vs. Cena isn't too bad but WWE really should have built this feud up for a major PPV like SummerSlam. For a while(in 2009) I remember thinking Cena vs. Batista was the last match/feud WWE never had and would make for a great WrestleMania main event. Sadly WWE butchered that plan.

Im talking in terms of character. If i wanted to get all 'behind the scenes" with it, then yeah, its creative or whoever else has the input that makes these fueds.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Cena lose the title to Ryback and then win it back in a rematch, Vince is clearly high on him. I think they're going to test the waters with him as champion for a month or so.

I think Ryback as a heel can work, but they have to handle this right. Don't let him right out ouf the gate, cleanly lose to Cena at his first PPV main event as a heel. I think he should win it and maybe Cena can win it back a few PPVs down the line or something to give Ryback an extra boost as a legit main event level guy.

Cena isn't the problem in this. The buildup so far has made Ryback look awful. First Ryback doesn't show up when Cena calls out anyone who wants a shot. Then he attacks Cena from behind. Then he whines about Cena didn't help him against the Shield. Then he doesn't help Cena (which makes sense). Then Cena helps him followed by an attitude adjustment.
What they should have done was just have Ryback come out the night after Wrestlemania instead of Mark Henry. Or at least when he explained his attack his reason should have been like "Cena has the title. I want the title. I take what I want."
It also doesn't help that Ryback has lost every big match he's been in.

welcome to 2013 WWE booking every heel is a coward who cant do anything for himself and whines....because that will get the stupid fans to boo them
I give Ryback credit because as a heel he at least has some depth to his promos over what he used to do. But whoever is deciding they need to be 10 minutes long is mistaken

Random Heels (or random Faces turned Heel) being hotshotted into the main event feud with (usually) Cena is a direct result of WWE's failure to build Main Event caliber talent over the last few years. They're getting there with a lot of guys now, but between 2007 to 2010 there was barely any progress being made. And now they're suffering.

I'm a bit upset that WWE went with the cheap and easy route in making Ryback turn heel. I really would have looked forward to a face Ryback taking on a face Cena. Letting the fans choose who to cheer for is much more entertaining than making Ryback, a built up beast, walk away from Cena and complain that Cena never helped him. It doesn't feel unique and I think if Ryback doesn't somehow end up getting the WWE Championship during this feud, then it definitely could kill his character.

If the matches that Ryback and Cent are having on house shows are indication of what's to come, then they will square off in a tables match at Extreme Rules which would've protect both men regardless of the outcome.

A lot of valid points in this thread, and for the most part, I entirely agree. Ryback turning heel could have worked, but WWE has already displayed their ineptitude and deliberate fear of his increasing popularity by turning him into cheapshot heel #72.

I really hope Ryback wins it. This whole super Cena as champion angle is just really old and lame. I do not know where WWE is headed with this Cena thing all over again. They need fresh new ideas. Its the same thing over and over again, especially if he beats Ryback and retains the title...

Ryback will go over Cena for the belt before this feud is all said and done. There's absolutely no reason why he shouldn't. Let's get some fresh blood back in the title picture. Think about this, after Ryback who would Cena have left?? He's faced everyone. If for some dumbfounding reason Cena never puts Ryback over then who the blue will be his next title feud? He's got to lose, he's got to do the right thing, even if that takes pleading and begging to Vince himself to change the plans. The company can't take anymore Cena he's been shoved down our throats twice as long as Austin was now, and just about as long as Hogan was. Its getting out of control and could eventually kill off the brand.

Henry beat him clean at Wrestlemania. Henry should logically be the guy to face Cena. No way Ryback goes over Cena and not Henry.

Ryback vs Cena should be like Umarga vs Cena back in 2007, where Umaga destroyed Cena thru out the match until Cena smart-fully gets in a roll up for the win.
