I apologize in advance if I am posting this in the wrong section of the boards, but i figured since it revolved around Mattel figures it might be ok? Anyways I'm 30 years old and a die hard WWE fan and Mattel action figure collector (mostly elites), and though I love them just as much as I'm sure everyone else does on here, I've kinda came to a road block where my car broke down for good and am in need of a new one. Nothing spectacular really, just wheels to get me and the family around. I don't have the best credit from paying House mortgage, hospital bills, family needs, and past debts, so the only thing i can think to make enough money to even come close to getting a vehicle would be to sell off my entire Mattel collection. ![:'(](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/cry.gif) My question to you guys and gal's is, if you were in my boat and had to sell your beloved collection to improve your daily lifestyle needs, how would you go about selling it? I came to the decision if I'm really going to sell it, I want to sell it all, and not have any left over (because what use will they be to me then if i only have 5-10 figs i don't really care for left?) Anyways, I have thought about putting an auction up on the bay showing my entire collection, rings, cages, barricades, weapons, accessories etc etc but I don't think anyone would be wanting to drop over a grand on plastic toys, and I kinda need to make the money with in a couple to few months time to get a car. I thought about putting it up in lots, but again worried only some will sell and some won't. I don't want to sell all my good ones, then be stuck with all the shelf warmers no one wants ya know?Does anyone have any tips to get rid of a 140+ elite figure collection, Deluxe display stands, rings etc etc? Again I really don't like the idea of selling my collection as i really love them and they are a big part of my life, but I came to a point where the vehicle has to come soon and is more important to me then these. Any SERIOUS advice at all would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

I'd keep my top 3-5 figures, and as for the rest I'd sell them in the classifieds here.

Just break up the figures into lots of four and sell them on E-bay. Keep your favorite five, Also never speak to anyone named Rated R Salagthor or any variation of that name about it or about buying them. In all seriousness, I don't think you will make enough money on them to purchase a car unless they are Matty exclusives or hard to find/Rare figures. I think your best bet is to find another way to come up with the money rather than sell your collection.

Agreed, what if all of sudden you have a change of heart & want back into collecting?

Sell the rare ones seperately and only sell your collection a few lots a week, dont throw all of them on there at once because some buyers might not have the money to buy everything but over time (as they get paid again at work) can spend more on your stuff.

Small lots of 4-5 keep elites and basics separate, try to put at least one rarer figure per lot

And yes, people will drop a grand on toys. One rare MOC LJN figure alone can go for 600 plus.

If you have time, sell the hard to find figures by itself but if you just want money fast, sell it in small lots.

We've seen some elite lots go for $200-600 bucks. If you have every exclusive and every sought after, big money fig.........you might get close. But if you see as one entire lot, you're limiting your clientel. So I say groups too. But not by series. A lot of buyers may have figs here and there from diff series' and not want to buy dupes.

Honestly 140 figures and accessories is not going to buy a reliable car for a family. Your better off saving $200 a week out of paychecks and cut some living costs back for 2 months and then use that money as a down payment on a vehicle.
