When I first saw the gimmick of the guitar I was ecstatic. We have had the tired old Jakks guitars of the past and the breakable Jeff Jarrett (I still hear him spelling his name whenever I type it)but Mattel outdid themselves with a guitar that breaks so that the frame can stay around the figures head. I loved this. Until I did it once and now the guitar barely stays together. Is there any trick out there that people have figured out to get the guitar to not fall apart with a slight breeze?

I put the rubber band back on. Barely see it and keeps everything in place.

I just kept the band that came on it so I could replace it whenever to keep it intact.

You mustn't remember Jarrett spelling his name that well, since you misspelled it yourself, J/K. But seriously, I hate how easily it falls apart, and really wished they could make it stay together easier. I had to test it out, but the entire thing disintegrated before I even made contact. It fell apart in mid air. LAME! I think this would have gone much better if the neck didn't have to break off as well. If the neck was attached to a hollow body with the top and bottom as breakaway it would have been awesome. It's still awesome in theory, but the neck is the first part to break off, making it largely unplayable. Luckily, as mine is part of a loose display, it hasn't fallen apart again. I hope it doesn't because its a bitch to get back together.

My Honky Tonk Man guitar doesn't fall apart easily. I actually had a hard time breaking it the other day. I wanted to show somebody how the guitar breaks and I hit another figure over the head with it a few times and it wouldn't break. I had to toss it down on my desk to actually break it apart.

My Honkys guitar stays together well. Make sure you put the two back pieces together before placing it on the back of the guitar.

I use the bands like many other folks on here. The real problem was getting it back together after i broke it apart while taking the bands off.

There's two spaces at the base of the guitar's neck where the front and back tab in. Coat those spaces with Future Floor Polish, so that they will hold the tabs tighter. Now it works like a charm.

Hit up Wrestling Superstore and just buy a guitar. I don't think their guitars are breakable. They look decent too, and are dirt cheap. Then you will have a break away guitar for matches, and a solid one for posing. My guitar too fell apart too easy, until i actually made sure it was all snapped together. Sometimes you don't snap it together properly and just the slightest breeze will make it all fall apart. But when its snapped together it takes a pretty solid bump for it to fall. It's still a lot looser than i'd like it to be, but try making sure you got everything snapped together properly cause sounds like you're doing the same thing i did at first.

Either way its still one of the best accessories I've ever seen. It can be a pain in the ass putting it together but once you get the feel for it its rather easy. I absolutely love the fact that it breaks!

A little happy I passed on Mattel HTM. I only want it for the guitar since I not too long ago bought a Jakks HTM with the white suit that I enjoy more. I have the old toybiz guitar that game wit Jeff J-A-R-R-E-T-T. Just can't find the middle piece and it's silver. I'd have to paint it beige. Personally, that is the best choice.
