What paint do you use to paint your customs. I want to start to make some, but don't know what paint to use. Can you please say the name of the paint (brand name) as well as where you can get it (stores only, I don't buy over the internet). Thanks!

Testors acrylic is awesome. Barely even needs sealer. You can get it at any Wal-Mart in the toy section... more specifically, model cars. Don't get enamel paint, make sure it says acrylic.

ALWAYS use Tamiya Color paints. ALWAYS. You can get them at any of your local craft stores, but not the walgreens, rite aids, walmarts, or targets. You can only buy them at craft stores. They cost about $4 a bottle that is about the size of a bottle cap, and the height of your thumb. Pretty expensive, but better than Testors.

Testors are like a buck for a little jar.

I get them for $1.99 a bottle at a hobby shop

How would you rate the quality of each type of paint? Every paint has positives and negatives. The 'higher-end' stuff: Tamiya +Smooth finish because of the smaller particles + Pretty Durable +Cheapest of the high-end stuff - Longer drying time - requires a lot of coats - will easily scrape off when not completely dry GamesWorkshop n/a I haven't actually used GW paints yet. Testors ModelMasters Acryl +Durable, especially the Fantasy series + very nice finish - really thin (watery) - More expensive than others - Requires a lot of coats. If you're just starting out, I'd reccomend starting with Folk Art, Apple Barrel or Delta Ceramcoat. All 3 can be found at Walmarts, Michaels, AC Moore or any craft store, plus they're like $0.99 a bottle. I used them for like 5-6 years.. I still use them today, it's not about the paint, it's about how you use it.

As far as the paints, will the figures be able to be playable? Because I do use the figures for play. Does anyone know?

I use either Testors (blue labels) or Apple Barrels acrylic paints. Basically any acrylic paint that isn't a gloss. If you use a gloss paint they'll never dry properly and remain tacky.

This is now the Official Paint Discussion thread. There are a lot of helpful tips in here as well as some brands to use.

It basically gives it a nice shine instead of making the paint look dull. I can't bend the joints after I seal them either because the paint will chip and I'm even using the Acrylic brand from Walmart. The paint I use for my customs is Folk Art and Delta Ceramcoat. I used to use Testors paint that's primarily used for model cars but I found that it was really thin and took multiple coats plus it was rather sticky after it dried.

I recently tried custom painting and bought Tamiya color (tamiya is enamel) its for 75 pesos so that's $1.50. a bit too pricey to buy all colors so what i did was to got to a paint store and had them mix a flesh toned paint and they used automotive acrylic. It's really really thick though so they had me buy an acrylic thinner which also works to clean the brushes. A pint of paint and 250ml of acrylic thinner costed me around 120 pesos, roughly $2.10. Not bad at all. I used the flesh tone with my custom DA Brock lesnar.

Then I tried doing what Bartman said and it didn't work well either. I can never get a good skintone. Anyone have any ideas?

Get the Tamiya Acrylic. Enamels are made for models made out of harder plastic than the plastic on figures. Tamiya makes a good fleshtone, I forgot the exact name of it though.
