Hey all, I'm new around here I browsed for a bit and it seems quite a few Horror movie fans are here, which is cool as I'm a lifelong fan of the genre. Thought this would be a fun thread. Of these Horror series, which entry is the one you feel is the best? I know I had another one of these but it was a while back and I was in the mood for another, so here's a new one. --- Friday The 13th Halloween A Nightmare On Elm Street Saw Scream Alien Predator Phantasm Evil Dead Final Destination The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Hellraiser Child's Play --- IMO the best in each: Friday The 13th - The Final Chapter Halloween - 1978 Original A Nightmare On Elm Street - New Nightmare Saw - Saw II Scream - Original Alien - Aliens Predator - Predator 2 Phantasm - Phantasm II Evil Dead - Evil Dead II Final Destination - Original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 2003 Remake Hellraiser - Original Child's Play - Original Go ahead and add more if you'd like.

Alien - Alien. One of the best hollywood movies ever in my opinion. Impressively it has aged much better than Aliens too. Evil Dead - Evil Dead 2. I never get tired of this film. ED1 was good, AOD was a pile of shit. TCM - Didn't care for any of them honestly. SAW 1 by a mile.
In conclusion, I haven't seen many of those franchises lol.

Usually the original, I'm not sure how anyone can prefer the 2003 TCM over the original, which in my mind is probably one of the finest horror movies ever made. Although I did like the sequel with its dark humour.
I'd say Alien and Aliens are on par with each other, as with the first two evil dead films.

I don't dislike the original 1974 TCM but I find the remake more entertaining. I liked the family in it better and also the teens.

Friday The 13th- Friday the 13th Part 3- 3D Halloween- Halloween 1978 A Nightmare On Elm Street- A Nightmare on Elm Street 1984 Saw- Saw Scream- Scream 4 Alien- Aliens (one of my favorite movies of all time Predator- Predator (although Predators was very good as well) Phantasm- As a horror fan I have yet to see these movies even though I own them Evil Dead- Army of Darkness is also one of my favorite movies of all time but Evil Dead 1 and 2 are amazing and the remake is very cool as well especially the credits scene Final Destination- Final Destination The Texas Chainsaw Massacre- Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part III with the hilarious Ken Foree Hellraiser- Hellraiser: Hellseeker with the Mayhem guy from the All State commercials Child's Play- Child's Play
I would like to add Psycho to the list because it has some great sequels. Psycho 2 is incredibly underrated and Psycho 3 was directed by Anthony Perkins himself, and shows shades of Hitchcock and Jeff Fahey is pretty funny in it. Part IV was meh but at least Tony Perkins played Norman Bates, well the current times Norman, not flashback.

Friday The 13th- Friday the 13th Part 2 Halloween- Halloween (Original) A Nightmare On Elm Street- A Nightmare on Elm Street (Original, though I do like the remake upon repeated viewings, intially I walked out of the theatre!) Saw- Saw 4 is my favorite, even though Saw 1 has one of the best twist endings ever. Scream- Scream 1, NOBODY saw it being TWO killers. Alien- Really not a fan of the series, however I love Prometheus Predator- Predators (yes, the Adrien Brody one, sue me.) Phantasm- Never saw it Evil Dead- It's tough, but I think the REMAKE trumps the original in my opinon. Final Destination- Final Destination The Texas Chainsaw Massacre- Original Hellraiser- Never saw any Child's Play- Hate chucky

Friday The 13th - I've only seen the remake, the originals are on my to watch-list. Halloween - Original, The second half of Rob Zombie's remake is actually quite good though. A Nightmare On Elm Street - 3, Nancy is a sight for sore eyes in this film. But only by a whisker because I thought the remake was fantastic. I still need to watch a couple of the later ones. Saw - I really hate Saw films, I've seen a couple and to me they're just gruesome for the sake of being gruesome. Scream - 2, IMO it took everything great about the original and improved upon it. Alien - Also on my to-watch list. Predator - 1, all the others that I've seen are garbage. 1 is a great film. Phantasm - Never heard of it. Evil Dead - Also on my to-watch list. Final Destination - 2, I still haven't seen the first one, I think the second is the best one I've seen. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - (2003?) Remake. Hellraiser - I recently got these on DVD, so I'll be watching them soon. Child's Play - I like all of them (apart from Seed), but the first is the best one.

Friday The 13th - V: A New Beginning. I don't care what anyone says, Roy Burns owns! And it has the highest body count of the entire original Paramount films.
Halloween- Halloween II (1982) I love this movie.
A Nightmare On Elm Street - Original is the best. Freddy was legit scary in that film if you can put yourself in the frame of mind and block out what he became as a one liner spewing jokester. I love what the character became personally. It was fun. But I'll always hold fond memories of the original movie.
Saw - First one. After that, the shock factor was gone for me.
Scream - The original. Same reasons as Saw.
Alien- Aliens. That movie was WAAAAY ahead of it's time in the effects department. And it IS my favorite sequel of any movie ever.
Predator - Original though I did love Predator 2
Phantasm - Phantasm II. Like Alien/Aliens, this sequel took what made the original fun and multiplied it.
Evil Dead - The original. I love Evil Dead II, but there's just something very raw and primitive about the original film.
Final Destination - I actually liked the most recent one. I loved the swerve at the end. But I think I enjoyed part 2 overall the most. No specific reason.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2 is one of my favorite movies. I love how they took something so serious and made it a comedy
Hellraiser - Part II. I love the world they created in that film
Child's Play - Part II. It's just a much more exciting movie.

Friday The 13th Halloween A Nightmare On Elm Street Saw Scream Alien Predator Phantasm Evil Dead Final Destination The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Hellraiser Child's Play •Halloween The original. It's the perfect horror movie. The soundtrack to that film will forever be associated with halloween and all things scary. •Nightmare on Elm As a kid I could never get into these so I cant honestly say which i like best. I recently bought them on dvd only to have my brother borrow them and never return them. • Saw I'll say the original because it was so fresh. Every other movie that came after it was just an attempt to duplicate the originality of the first. • Scream Again I'll say the first. I remember the first one because it kinda knocked on other horror movies all the while being a weak horror movie itself. • Alien This is a franchise I havnt seen. I'd like to because of promethius though. • Predator The one with Arnold was the best simply because of this line.... "I aint got time to bleed" I loved predators though. • Phantasm I've never seen them. I think I have one around here somewhere but the wife hates horror so it's rare that I watch a film. • Evil Dead Evil Dead 2. I like it best because we see evil ash in that one. And the love of his girlfriend brings him back to humanity. • Final Destination These are all pretty good IMO so I cant pick one. • Texas Chain Saw This is tough to pick one. The first film made me sick to watch, my stomach would hurt from being so scared/disgusted, so maybe that should be the best? But I loved the second one as well, seeing leather face with a cadaver on top of a pick up as he saws those guys while blasting no onw lives forever.... classic. And then the ones with my guy R Lee Emmery. And that last one was fantastic too. • Hellraiser I could never get into this franchise. •Childs Play Chris Sarandon, nuff said. And last...... • Friday the 13th This is tough but im going to pick part 3. The 3d one. It is the movie where we see how Jason got his famous hockey mask. Jason actually runs to kill someone instead of the usual walking. AND the theme song, HOT Ice by Harry Manfredini is fantastic, its a shame it isnt that popular.

Alien - Alien. One of the best hollywood movies ever in my opinion. Impressively it has aged much better than Aliens too. . I have to disagree.very few movies have aged as well as Aliens due to Camerons very clever use of certain tech.I wont deny though that I love Alien too.just not as much as Aliens. heres my choices. Halloween franchise: Halloween from 1978.absolute brilliance still..... Alien Franchise:Aliens(DC).such a powerful and influential movie to this day.and Cameron ratchets the tension up here to a practically physical experience. Friday the 13th: Friday The 13th part IV.cracker Texas Chainsaw:2003 remake.its absolutely excellent.frankly.....none of the other entries even touch it. Saw:Saw.its ten times better than the 2nd outing.....and they only decreased in quality. Childs Play:original and best. Romeros Dead movies:Snyders remake.original Dawn is a close second though. Nightmare on Elm Street:its gotta be the original.although I am very partial to the remake as well. Exorcist:the original....all other entries in this franchise fall short by quite some way. The Omen:original again....but I enjoyed all these movies including the remake. Scream:Scream 1.BUT I really dig Scream II as well. Predator:not sure if this fits but I will list it anyway.of course its the original.....

Friday The 13th: Part 4 The "Final" Chapter. Such a good film and when the camper is screaming "he's killing me", gives me goose bumps. Halloween: The first is the greatest of them all. But I'll but #4 right behind it. A Nightmare On Elm Street: These movies don't hold up but I like "Dream Warriors". Saw: The first one. I didn't care for any of the others. Scream: Number #1. It was refreshing to see a movie like this. The others were lame. Alien: Aliens. GAME OVER MAN!!!! Predator: #2. Danny Glover kicks ass and Gary Busey made the film. Phantasm: #1 I still get very creeped out when I enter a room that has a full length mirror on the door! Evil Dead: Army of Darkness the original one with the real ending. Such a great film. Final Destination: the first one. The others were good but the first is the best. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The second. Chop Top, Stretch, Dennis Hopper, nothing bad at all with this film. Hellraiser: The first one. "Then Jesus wept." such a great line and was improv. Child's Play: lol I like the second one for the older foster girl. She was hot.
I'll throw in Leprechaun. I like the 4th one in space. Very under rated series. The "hood" ones sucked major balls and I have no hope for the horngobbler one.
Also Wishmaster: The first was awesome. Gotta love Andrew Divoff. He was great in the second as well, but forget the rest since he isn't in them.

Friday The 13th- Original Friday the 13th A Nightmare On Elm Street - Original Nightmare On Elm Street Saw - I liked Saw II the best, though the twist in 1 was the best. Scream - Scream 1 Evil Dead - Not a fair assesment because I am yet to see the first three, so for now I'm putting the remake. Final Destination - Definately the first one. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 2003 remake for sure. I did like the 2006 one though

Friday The 13th - V: A New Beginning. I don't care what anyone says, Roy Burns owns! And it has the highest body count of the entire original Paramount films. I love you! Very few people give that movie the props it deserves. Best horror cast ever! It's the most quotable, creatively gory and hands down entertaining of all the Friday films! It's definitely my favorite of the franchise. I think the "best" films in a series are always the 1st ones. I can't think of a sequel that's legitimately a better film. Maybe Dawn of the Dead(original), the 2nd and 3rd Leprechaun films are more entertaining. The second Evil Dead comes close. Puppet Master III? Ghoulies II? Those are probably on par with the 1st. Certainly Aliens and Bride of Frankenstein are damn close too, but I find the 1st entries to be a little bit superior.

Friday The 13th: Part 2. Really enjoyed the remake with Jared Padalecki too. Halloween: The first one A Nightmare On Elm Street: The first one, although I really liked the remake. Saw: The first are tied for me. I remember my first time seeing the first one and my jaw dropping at the end. Scream: The original, but I liked all of the original trilogy. 4 was the weakest one. Alien: I've only ever seen Alien, so that one by default. Predator: The first one, no doubt. Phantasm: Never seen it Evil Dead: The original and the remake Final Destination: The second one The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Probably in the minority, but the remake was way more entertaining to me. Hellraiser: Never seen any of them Child's Play: The first one creeped me out so bad as a kid.
