Serie A was/is the butt of jokes for many football fans as a league that has fallen from grace and become a place for older players to get one last paycheck, unable to draw top talent in their prime to its shores. But is the PL slowly going that way? How often do top stars move here from other countries in their prime? Or has it always been this way, even when the PL dominated the world (see: 2005-2009)? Is this the start of a huge decline or is it simply a natural trough, with the PL returning to the top in a couple of years?
Personally, I think its always been this way, and that the PL will be top dogs again once this Bundesliga peak quietens down in 3 years or so. The PL has never attracted the top calibre players from other countries on a consistent basis, but it can often have some of the best players through growing them. I also think its worth noting how many of the world's top players come from South America, from where most players would naturally prefer to go to Spain rather than England. In 10 years or so when the first generation of Asian kids who watched the PL grow up, hopefully some will be top class players, and then want to move to the PL; in the short term I think Kagawa will want to stay with United for several years yet, and I also think that he can be a world class player.

Serie A is pretty bad because of the way the Italians play, don't think it's mainly down to the loss of talent etc. Sure it had its boom period during the 90's when coverage was shown on Channel 4 and had countless of world class players in the league, that saying the league hasn't really changed in terms of style or bringing players into the league (the signings of Tevez among others will prove that).
The Premier League isn't the best league in the world anymore but that's down to the improvements of other leagues.

I love Serie A. It doesnt have the enthusiasm of PL but if you like to analyse tactics and how to defend on the game then Serie A is a lot of fun. I think every manager should make Serie A their top priority at the start of their career.

The Premier League is still the biggest League in the World, probably the best too. The only reason the World's biggest Players tend to go to Spain is because of Real Madrid and Barcelona. They tend to play at those Clubs in there prime, then opt for Italy after, as the tempo is played a lot slower so it suits an older age. It would be no good coming to England past the age of 30 and trying to adapt to the fast and physical nature of English Football. More stars are gradually coming our way though since the influx of big owners. The Premier League has graced some hge names though, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, Van Nistelrooy, Drogba etc, but the main difference is that the Stars tend to come to the Premier League at an earlier age before they have really made a name for themselves. When they hit their prime, that's when they go abroad for the dream move.

I also a big fan of Serie A. I hope Virgin Media sort out this BT Sport debacle soon so I can watch the new season. I enjoy the slow build up, looking for the right ball
