Picked up the 1-5 boxset earlier today having wanting to get into the series for a while now but never really having a chance, not to mention Fast 7 out next year and being a fan of The Rock and you know who from the end of 6
Just got a few general questions about the movies
How would you rank them, best to worst I heard there was a story order, whats the story order? Do I have to watch them in that order or will it make sense in release order? What do you think of the movies in general?

5,6,1,4,2,3 in my opinion.

1,2,4,5,6,3,7

It'll make sense, you'll just have to remember you're watching them out of order if you watch them sequentially. What happens at the end of 6 ties into the 3rd movie's ending, but the character was so popular that he was brought in for 5 n 6, since they went from being movies about cars to being heist films.
What do you think of the movies in general?
I love them for the most part. I'm bummed Rock wont be in 7 (He'll be filming Hercules) but they're a blast and got a lot of heart. They got a great "family" theme, sexy women, fast cars and damn decent action. What more do you want in entertaining flicks? Not to mention both Walker and Diesel grow as the series progresses. Definitely one of my favorite franchises overall.
The only one I will go out of my way not to watch is 3. They tried to go in a different direction and it just didn't work. The lead character (the QB from Friday Night Lights movie) will hopefully be back in 7. He wasn't a bad character. I can do without Bow Wow, though.

Possibly my favorite franchise ever next to nolans batmans ( or batman movies in general) i do feel fast six stole the #1 title for me tho so many loose ends answered follewed by fast 5, fast 4, fast 1, tokyo drift and finally the awful 2 fast however introducing luda and tyrese and brians love for skylines was cool

5,4,3,1,6,2 IMO.

One of my favourite film franchises, and admittedly, I'm not a car enthusiast at all, I just enjoy the characters and their development, the action and the locations. Like Robert said, they've got a lot of heart, and the characters definitely feel like a family, which I can appreciate. I personally am a big fan of Sung Kang as Han, and enjoyed number 3 moreso for his contribution (until his unfortunate end)
I was disappointed by number 2 as I felt that John Singleton's approach to it missed the mark for me, and after seeing number 6 in cinemas and discussing at length with my brother how good it was (on it's own merits, and then as part of the series especially after the superb number 5) it didn't hold up as well unfortunately.

Best to Worst 5,6,1,3,2,4 I ranked 4 as worst because that movie tries SO hard. They really want to make the audience feel that Brian is no longer the weak cop from the first two. Plus 4 is the one where Vin Diesel came crawling back to the franchise. 2 I didnt care for much. 3 gets a lot of guff but only cause it doesnt have Diesel or Walker. Lucas Black took the franchise and did the best he could and the film also teaches non car people what drifting is, racing isnt all just straight foward you have to master curves.

I love these movies. I still think the first one was the best but all of them are good outside of Tokyo Drift which I just find as "OK"

5,6,3,4,1,2 is the way I rank them.. not really a fan of the second movie but it has it's moments.. the first movie is so outdated these days and shows it's age when I watch it.

Of course youre suppoosed to watch them in release-order.
But my opinion of the series? Top to bottom I believe it to be one of the best movie franchises of all time. At the end of the day, theres been like one bad movie so far. Theyve evolved, the stories have stayed fresh, and most importantly, its simply fun to watch these movies.
