Pro Wrestling Guerrilla: Article 001Written by Shawn Moore | July 20th, 2013 | Post a comment | Message the author - It's going to be an exciting August for the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla fans and wrestlers. Following a recent increase in the financial section of the company, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has announced that there will be a total of five PWG shows in the month of August. PWG is scheduling three back-to-back-to-back shows for their tenth anniversary. Starting August 9th and ending August 11th, PWG will host three shows under the name of TEN. The Main Events have already been announced for Night One and Night Two (Check below for matches). - Following his recent TNA release, Joey Ryan is rumored to return to the promotion he founded. Ryan is currently speculated to compete in the annual Best of Los Angeles tournament in August. Although he could make an appearance as early as the triple header of TEN. - Multiple PWG alumni are speculated to return for the triple header of TEN. Wrestlers such as Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Ray Rosas among others are rumored for the events. We will have to wait for the official PWG TEN cards for full alumni inclusion. - Two Main Events are confirmed for TEN. Adam Cole will defend his PWG World Championship against both Kevin Steen and Drake Younger in a triple-threat Guerrilla Warfare match! The PWG Tag Team Championships will be defended by the Young Bucks as they defend against the DojoBros and a team to be announced in a three-way Falls Count Anywhere Tornado Tag Team Match. |

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla kicks off their tenth anniversary triple-header in their home residence of Reseda, California. The PWG World Championship will be on the line tonight as Adam Cole looks to retain his championship against both Drake Younger and Kevin Steen.
Pre-Show Notes: Multiple PWG Alumni interacted with their fans before doors opened. Among the Alumni were Jimmy Jacobs and Christina Von Eerie. It is interesting to note that they arrived in the same vehicle. Before the event happened, Angelo Trinidad revealed that Davey Richards had not showed up for the night. I wonder who will take his place in the big six man tag team showcase.
1. The Super Smash Bros vs. The RockNES Monsters: Decent match to kick off the show. Both teams incorporated some comedy bits. Johnny Yuma pins Stupefied following the Sex Factor at about 8:14. I will speak on behalf of the PWG fans in attendance and say that we will gladly accept a rematch from these two teams.
2. Brian Cage vs. Eddie Edwards: Talk about unannounced! Both men put on a very good match that went back and forth. Edwards submitted Cage to a Stretch Muffler at 9:10, which garnered attention from the crowd. Bravo to both men for nod to Sami Callihan.
3. The Young Bucks vs. The Briscoe Brothers: Now this is PWG at its finest! Both teams put in a great effort. The Briscoes seem excited to work in PWG once again, even if its just for the weekend. Jay pinned Matt with Jay Driller at 11:05 for the victory. Does this mean The Briscoe Brothers gets a rematch for the titles? I would definitely hope so.
4. Colt Cabana vs. Joey Ryan: The fans were pumped for the return of both wrestlers. Multiple You got fired! chants aimed at Joey. His reaction was priceless. Joey used some dirty tactics to pin Cabana at 7:56.
Intermission: Kevin Steen came out during intermission and hyped tonights Main Event. This led to Jimmy Jacobs and Steve Corino making their returns to the promotion. They told Steen that they have his back. Excalibur announced that a special VIP package is available for discounted tickets for the weekends events. I hope to see more of Jimmy Jacobs in PWG.
5. Los Luchas vs. Team Honor: Team Honor started the match off without a third partner. Davey Richards really screwed things up on this card. Pretty exciting moment where all three members of Los Luchas teamed on OReilly and SAMI CALLIHAN made the save! Callihan turned out to be the third partner and finished Zokre off with the Stretch Muffler at 12:34. That got the crowd going.
6. Michael Elgin vs. Willie Mack: A big man match right here. Both men showed a strong-style side in this match. Elgin performed a Moonsault from the top-rope to get the fans rowdy! Elgin pinned Mack with the Revolution Elgin Bomb at 9:56.
7. Roderick Strong and Candice LaRae vs. Ricochet and Christina Von Eerie: Pretty good match with standard mixed tag team rules. Ricochet was flying everywhere on Strong as LaRae pinned Von Eerie with a school boy at 7:12.
8. PWG World Championship; V2; Guerrilla Warfare Match; Adam Cole vs. Drake Younger vs. Kevin Steen: This is a PPV worthy main event! Younger and Steen both went through tables ringside. Cole was sent crashing through a ladder as his back became swollen. Thats not good. Cole pinned Younger with a Florida Key sending him into a dozen chairs at 23:12. This was brutal. This will be a PWG Match of the Year candidate for sure. Excalibur announced a rumble for tomorrow nights show where the winner will face Adam Cole on Night Three! Steen proceeded to give Cole a Package Piledriver to send the crowd home happy. |

I'm guessing you've rewinded quite a bit since Ten is only one show and BoLA is only two shows. Seems unrealistic for PWG to start doing so many shows. Your best bet, if you wanted to increase shows, was wait till the end of the year and do an announcement saying PWG is trying out other areas. I like the layout of the card. Davey no showed? Didn't he say before. Good to see RockNES win but SSB are a great team too. Edwards winning was fine, I'd rather see Cage in a tag with Elgin. Why the Sami finisher? Briscoes? What happened to Jay's injury. There's plenty of teams inside PWG to use for the title div without going outside to get Briscoes. What happened to the triple ladder match you moved it to another night? Cabana? bit random. Joey winning was good though. Bit vague on the write up, what comedy antics and how did he cheat? Jacobs and Corino in PWG why? Who is in team Honor? Because you got Jacobs in the picture above. Can't see it being that big of a match since Los Luchas aren't that big of a deal. Callihan coming in makes no sense since he's off to WWE and he had the perfect send off at the last show. Elgin/Mack is decent, personally would have had Mack go over. Strange booking to put the inter-gender match just before main event but I've seen it done before, doesn't mean I like it. Good ending to the show, Cole needs to retain for now. Didn't like the post match attack didn't seem needed. Lots of names missing from the card, would be silly to only include them on the other nights since realistically if you book them you may as well have them wrestle all three nights. Overall, this seems a little off. Maybe you haven't done your research or you don't know much about PWG. I am looking forward to see what you do with this, just don't turn it into ROH which is what it looks like. Good luck.
