Who was/is better overall - Stevie G or Fat Frank? Think about both their peaks and now. I ing hate them both (Gerrard is a thug and Lampard is an arrogant prick) but I have to say I think Gerrard is better. He always performed in a worse team, but the thing that really clinches it is how he transitioned into his later career. He really took on the deep lying playmaker role well, whilst Lampard has struggled in comparison imo. Gerrard can still control a team (albeit a worse one than at his peak), which I don't think Frank can do anymore. Also noteworthy how both are club legends yet Frank nearly didn't get a contract, whilst for Gerrard that's still unthinkable. Scholes is better than them both though, and playing him on the left for his country instead of in the centre with one of them (other benched or in the middle aswell in a 4-3-3 was the way to go) is a travesty of English football. If Giggs had been English our midfield would've been unstoppable, and with Rooney and Owen up top 2004 would've been brilliant. But anyway yeah who was better?

Gerrard. I honestly don't think there's a single player in PL history who could grab a game by the nuts and turn it on its head like he could. It's a shame he has stayed at Liverpool so long, he could have been one of the most decorated players in the modern era if he wanted to be.

Lampard. Never seen Gerrard as being on par with him.

Think the same could be said about Lampard, it just seems Gerrard stood out as he is 'the man' at his club and Chelsea had a few other game changers. I know they got abuse when playing together for England but i'd of liked to have seen them at club level together, it is a shame Gerrard knocked them back in '05 was it? There's also no question to me anyway that Lampard has shown his quality for a lengthy amount of time while Gerrard while still a class player has deteriorated.

Lampard. Look at the medals table. cant lie. Terrible argument tbh. Ross Turnbull has more European winners medals than Ronaldo.

Not being biased, but I can't see how Gerrard is better than Lampard. Gerrard used to have impact on his Team as a Captain and score screamers and dig his Side out of trouble, but in terms of facts, stats and role model you can't look past Frank. He's scored more, got more assists, scored more for his Country and won more. He's adapted his Game better than Gerrard has, and is still a huge influence even at his age now.

I'd rather have Gerrard in my team. Lampard was great and bossed some games for Chelsea, but Gerrard usually comes up with the goods when you desperately need it.

As a Liverpool fan, i'll have to say Stevie G. Without him from about 2004-2007 when Torres arrived, he was outstanding, the amount of games he won on his own is incredible. Carragher said when he was asked between Gerrard or Dalglish 'Gerrard, just because he achieved the things he did and the stuff he did during games with not so good players around him'.

I like how much this has polarised people, yet the results of the poll are 50/50. Always an interesting debate imo.
