i took some (square) chickenwire, and cut it along down the middle, so prongs are sticking out of both sides

As I said in many other threads like this, take some thin wire and twist staples onto it. Looks pretty deadly.

craft wire. It comes in spools (which look like a spool of barbed wire) for about $2, and each spool has enough to make a TON of barbed wire weapons, and to do barbed wire ropes on a RSR. You can find these at Wal*Mart or any craft stores. Just go to the craft section and ask for "steel gage wire". You'll want the smallest gage they have, for easier bending. It doesn't have barbs on it, but if you cut it into small sections, and then twist it back together, it has a legit sharp barb to it.
If I am not too busy tommorrow, I'll take some pictures of the wire, the spools, and a few of the weapons I have made, just to show you how good it looks.
