So as I've been studying for a grad school exam I have tomorrow, I think of how low my actual funds are as a student. Still, I'm able to get the Elites/Divas I want, and every once in a while some blu-rays etc. I started collecting in summer 2010, and have only collected Elites & Divas.
I understand how time and money consuming figure collecting can be as compared to other collecting hobbies. Checking online prices, driving around town, "build a figure/set", buying various playsets, getting/making room for figures, spending paychecks, etc. However, I'm still buying! I figured I've spent about $2500-$3000 on the collection that I have And I know it's not gonna get any better. Soon I'll have WAY too many figures and not enough space!
But still I buy.
So how much do you think you have spent on your collection and does that affect you're collecting habits? If so, do you see a stopping point?

Too much to be honest. I was collecting debut elite figures for wrestlers, basics for wrestlers without elites yet and divas I'd never actually watched before as I haven't watched a lot of the PG era. Latest wrestling related stuff I've seen comes from SVR 2010 game so I went back and decided to use that as a stopping point for modern wrestlers along with the few extras added in SVR 2011. Now instead of collecting almost an entire wave I am only getting Flashbacks and new attires for favourite wrestlers. Huge difference.

Ballpark $30 a month, if that. There's not a lot for 1985-1996 collectors right now.

Well it is getting a little ridiculous. Not really Mattel's fault though as they continue to make excellent figures that I feel are about right on their price point. But I remember back in the Bone Crunchin' Action days of Jakks, I could get 2 figures for $10! Haha, damn that was almost 20 years ago. But when I buy a $18 figure REALLY just for the extras, it makes me put everything into perspective. Most Elite sets are around $120 a set retail, not to mention exclusives, playsets, and the like. I feel like I might need to stop collecting something else so I can actually have some nights out! Haha

I could've put a decent down payment on a new car with all the $$$ I've spent on my collection. Lol

As we all know, it's in spurts. But I've sepnt a ton in growing my collection to almost 150 figs in less than a year. It was fun catching up and getting the older figs that I missed at retail. Esp finding the Legends and DM's at Big Lots over last Christmas. I'll still pick up bits and pieces from ebay or the classifieds when retail is slow. But I'm pretty smart about it. I'll sell a few here and there on ebay to cover the cost of this awesome hobby sometimes.

Depends on the series etc. Usually around £50 a month unless I don't want anyone in the new series E21 for example I only bought Ryback so I try to get a few older ones that I want still which can push me over

to date, i've spent about $2400 on mattels. i have over 200 figures, mostly elites. lots of highly sought after figs too. might sound like a lot but do the math, i'm a bargain hunter. i added up approximately what i paid versus the retail prices and my total spent is about 33% less than retail. i think it works out to about $50 per month though. but, i'm 31, married with no kids so i'm fortunate to be in a position where my figging isn't a problem... well, unless you count all the space i need.

Per month? A little less than $200 in stores, but I've been filling in the holes in my collection via these boards and eBay. That's ran me close to $400 in the last two months or so.

I cheery pick mattel I dont go for whole rosters, nor any b list guys like prime time players. I focus on world champions UNLESS there is a belt I need. On mattel's I dont know how much I spend I would say its less than 40 a month but there months I dont buy any wwe stuff at all.
My problem is that I collect several lines. MARVEL, DC, Transformers, GI JOE, Starwars, along with WWE. that being said my total per month is about 100 to 150 a month. cherry picking all those lines. If I was to focus on one line and have a mission I would save money. I use to be only WWE collector in the jakks days but jakks messed me up so I feel that jakks drove me into other lines and started the madness.
If I was forced to go to only one line it would be GI JOE, as thats what I assocated most of my childhood with. It would be very hard to give up my justice league and marvel stuff. the WWE stuff would be maybe the first to go. With exception to a few of my top champions. Cm Punk, Eddie Guerrero, Stone Cold, HBK, Taker, HOgan, Warrior, Macho, STING,
