So I've said it a bunch of times but I was never much of a WCW fan when I got really into wrestling during the late 90s. I always watched the first hour of Nitro and then switched over to Raw and never looked back. However, I've been playing a lot of WCW/nWo World Tour and WCW vs. nWo Revenge on N64 the past week and remembered two somewhat forgotten gimmicks... Wrath & Mortis Now I'm going to be honest, even though I wasn't much of a WCW fan, I LOVED their N64 video games and always thought Mortis was pretty cool. However, I don't think I've ever seen one Mortis match. I was always a Wrath fan. I'm glad WCW did something with him after that horrible Adam Bomb experiment in WWF. My question is what was the Wrath & Mortis team? I guess they had Father James Mitchell as their manager. Was there more of them? Were they a stable? Did they have ANY success as a tag team? I know Mortis ended up becoming Kanyon and had moderate success. Wrath became a pretty solid mid-carder before being fed to Goldberg and ending up in Kronik with Bryan Adams. We all know how that turned out... Thanks in advance WCW fans! I always thought the gimmick looked cool and fun but I literally know NOTHING about them. I appreciate any feedback.

Bryan Clarke was extremely talented. Vince missed the mark with him. As far as in ring ability goes for a big man, he's on Kane/Undertaker level.
I'm in the same boat as you, I've really not seen that much of WCW. I remember Glacier being extremely hyped but I never saw a single match of his lol.

Clarke got the short end of the stick in 98 BIG time.
Wrath as a competitor was building up a streak of his own and getting someplace with the fans.in steps new booker Kevin Nash....who decides his gimmick is gonna be that of the guy who stops guys winning streaks cold.
cue him easily beating Wrath on Nitro.couldnt honestly tell ya what the dude did until Kronik....I remember buying his Toybiz figure in 00 and wondering was this guy even still with the company.
Ill tell ya this...I tremendously enjoyed Kronik.was never a fan of Adams but he was delivering here for me.

I enjoyed Kronik too. I always liked Wrath also and the Meltdown was an awesome finisher at the time.

Kronik were great, I wish they hadn't got so out of shape for their WWF run.

I'm pretty sure Mortis was specifically created to be a Mortal Kombat style opponent for Glacier. Wrath came along later to keep the feud alive. I think it lasted for a good 4-6 months as it always seemed like Glacier was taking on one or both of them, eventually being joined by Ernest "the Cat" Miller for tag team matches. I think Wrath and Mortis may have wrestled the Faces of Fear a few times and I'm sure Glacier beat a bunch of jobbers, but I pretty much only remember them wrestling each other over and over. Kanyon was definitely the best of the bunch and enjoyed some singles success once the gimmicks were dropped; his "positively Kanyon" feud with DDP was a high point in WCW writing/booking at that time. Kronik had a lot of potential but it went mostly unrealized in WCW and WWE. And I have no idea what became of Glacier.

I loved Mortis. Everything about the gimmick was amazing to me. The only thing that was weird to me was then he un-masked and revealed himself to be Kanyon. The announcers kind of flipped out if I remember correctly but no one in the arena had any idea who the guy was. But, I loved the character of Mortis and I loved Kanyon as a wrestler. He for the longest time was my favorite wrestler, when I finally was able to track down his lone WCW figure I made it the Heavyweight Champion immediately (even if the figure was oddly incredibly small).

I wasnt a big fan much like the rest of the WCW purest. While Clarke & Kanyon were both great workers, they were given silly gimmicks that not only dont go well in the time frame, but also usually dont go over well with "Southern wrestling fans". It seemed like something that belonged in the New Generation Era and not the Monday Night Wars.

It's weird how no video game (to my knowledge) has Glacier, Mortis, AND Wrath. WCW Nitro PC (and I'm assuming Thunder) has Glacier, Wrath, and Kanyon, but no Mortis costume.

I loved them as a tag team. Mortis/Kanyon was well known for his innovation and it was clear that he brought it to the team. Some of their tag moves were awesome. Sit out Powerbomb/Neck Breaker combo. There was one where Wrath would hold the opponent in a reverse Boston Crab, then Mortis would come of the second rope with a leg drop.

I know in early 99, they did an angle to actually kill off the Glacier character, by having him lose to a bunk of lower level guys. He then sold his entrance gear to Kaz Hayashi, and that was the end of Glacier. He then returned as Coach Buzz Stern, looking like the stereotypical high school football coach (which he apparently did before becoming a wrestler) and served as a manager for Luther Biggs, who only wrestled a handful of times, losing them all, expect a tag match. Then Stern wrestled one match, before the character was shelfed. I know he's done Indy work under the Glacier character, as well as acting. I know he appeared on an episode of Burn Notice. Coach Buzz Stern Kaz Hayashi in the Glacier gear

He's mostly there but incomplete. They gave him Sting's outfit but you can change it to Brian Clarke's which is closer to what Wrath wore. A lot of his moves are there but the animation goes whacky when you do a leg submission because the animation wasn't completed for him for whatever reason. Anyway, Wrath should've been pushed more. I liked him a lot.

I don't really remember Wrath in WCW until Kronik

Yeah he was made to be in the game but halfway through they took him out due to not having enough space I used to put him in Rick steiners black attire backon topic I always liked wrath he was so misused in every stint kronik was hugely over used to love them they should have had a much better run during the invasion partially there fault for being out of shape

I didn't care too much for Wrath, but I especially liked Mortis/Kanyon. He was a hell of a wrestler. I could swear that after Kanyon arrived in the WWF after WCW was sold off, he very briefly brought back the Mortis character. I remember him being pictured in the Mortis costume in a SmackDown magazine.
I can't find any clips or anything on YouTube however. It's very unfortunate Kanyon passed away. Like SO many in the wrestling business, he died WAY too young.

Kronik were great, I wish they hadn't got so out of shape for their WWF run. I just watched unforgiven 01 with them facing taker and kane, i wouldnt say they were out of shape but they blew up quickly cos of the bulk of muscle they were carrying, just like the rock in his return.
