Yes I said it. The "F" word of action figure collectors...Doll. Well to be fair he is just that. I remember first seeing this mammoth toy as a kid in the early 90's that a good friend of mine had as a hand me down from his brothers. Of course his version had scuffs, a marker drawing on his crotch area, some stab wounds, and none of the accessories. I think they used it more as an early wrestling buddy and clearly did not cherish it as a collectible.
A couple months ago a friend of my girl friend text me a pic of this figure that she saw in a Mexican restaurant. Random I know but after that, I was infected and had to have one. Well I was lucky enough to find this gem on ebay for about $30 shipped. Loose, used, but complete. Over all I am thrilled with the figure. There is next to no paint wear or scuffs. The belt is loosing some of is luster and paint but other than that it is perfect. And the shirt, although tattered as a toy's shirt form the 80's, was okay in my book. Seems were getting a bit loose (especially after taking it on and off the Hulkster a few times) but I was easily able to resew them and make them stronger than they probably were originally. I really think that the head sculpt so perfectly captures Hulk Hogan in 1985. And the belt is amazing. They really did a great job at capturing the main plate of that title. I wish it were made as an affordable replica and in Jakks/Mattel size. The side plates have little to no detail however.
Overall, I love the product that i got and will display him proudly.
Only flaws I can see are with the shirt really. I hate how short it is. Makes him look like an 80's aerobics instructor girl. This is partially because the shirt is a bit short, and mostly because it is old and rolling up. Also no back slits. But nothing a bit of custom magic cant fix. I don't dare ruin the original shirt so I made a few customs. Unfortunately the Red Hulkamamnia shirt I made got ruined when I had my heat press to hot. But I made lemonade out of that mistake.
Let me know your thoughts and which is your favorite.
