Im 15 and ive been collecting for a little over a month now. I hadnt bought action figures since i was 10 but for some reason i wanted to collect. My 7 year old cousin got into wrestling last year and bought action figures to play with. Well all of the sudden he wants to collect and be like Grim. (His mom doesnt appreciate that i showed him Grim either) So anyway i go to target and i find Rosa Mendes and im like awesome but i didnt have money. (Aka didnt have my mom. She likes my hobby) So i hide her. We are having sunday dinner (tradition with my aunt and uncle) and i tell my sister who collects divas figures where i hid her and my mom said tommorow we will get her. Well my cousin who has no diva figures btw decides to beg his mom to go to target and get a action figure. He buys my Rosa and he flaunts it in my face. I went to TRU bought him the new Zack Ryder (his favorite wrestler) and he traded. Plus i got a recipt for the mailaway
Edit Question Do you have family or friends who collect and have you ever had a competition to find them before they did?
i hope i didnt come off as an ass, my mom does charge me with chores around the house. But Mattel needs to stop shortpacking some figures. At least put two of each person. He did get Rosa last night. But Kaitlyn is going to be tough because to get because shes shortpacked (I think) so we will see who gets her first.
I just needed to rant so thanks for reading and i just past a month on the forums and i love this place.

You didnt come off like an ass mate! Its great that you have a parent that helps out with your hobby buddy!
I was the one who go my 10 year old nephew into collecting Elites and basics! He saw my MOC and loose collections and he started immediately. He lives in Oregon and I live in California, so I will send him figures off of Ebay or Toys R Us when I buy some for myself as a surprise to him. I got him an elite scale ring, the new Raw stage and barricades. He sends me pics of his set up and all his MOC he has up on his wall and his loose collection in his own arena.
At first he was somewhat embarrassed and would hide it from his friends, but I told him that girls and his guy friends will appreciate him more if he is honest about his real likes and his real personality. Thats what I do at least, and I have gotten nothing but positive reactions from girls I have dated that I showed my collection to. So we share that hobby together. I do kinda regret giving him a MOC CM Punk series 1 lol oh well!

You shouldn't hide figures.... if you can't afford to buy them, leave them for someone who can.
If I'd gone in there looking for that & it was hidden by someone who didn't have the cash I'd be pretty mad - and I think you would be too.
It's no different than if some regular customer had found it and bought it - would you be mad at them, too?

Your story reminds me of an interview Curt Hawkins did. I think on Colt Cabanas podcast.
Back in the day before they got signed, Curt and Ryder collected the latest Jakks figures. 1 day Curt found the newest set and hid them for when he had $. He told Ryder and he went and grabbed them from the hiding spot and bought them. Made me LOL
