Indoors.
The crowd noise just goes up in the air in an outdoor stadium. The talent knows when they're getting pops in an indoor stadium.
Also, they're pressing their luck with outdoor stadium. A thunderstorm will occur on a Wrestlemania night as some point.
What would they do if they had to cancel the event due to weather? Would they have it the next night or move it to a nearby arena?

Indoors. Pro wrestling should NOT be outdoors. Want to run something special once a year and chance it? Fine. But to do this consistently is absurd and you are just begging for the weather to ruin your show.

If crowds were loud enough you would be able to hear them on tv. When I watch Premier League Football (which isn't even too loud for a football league) I can regularly clearly hear loud crowd chants and celebrations. Wrestling fans are just too quiet.

i prefer it outdoor cause of the spectacle of the occasion but if i'd wanna listen for crowds reaction i'd defintely have to say indoors

Anyways, I'm for any dome or huge stadium. Indoors or out. Makes it more of a spectacle and the sets/stages are unreal. As a kid I loved WM6, 8, 9, and Summerslam 92 in Wembley. I was just in awe of 70,000 people and the long aisles. On the History of Mania dvd Mcmahon said he never wanted to do WM in an arena again. 16,000 people just doesn't feel epic enough.
I don't know if it's hd sound nowadays, where the crowd is muted and the sound effects and commentators are turned up.......but WM8, 17, 18, 19 etc seemed like the crowds were much louder than the last few in stadiums or domes.

Going back to indoor WrestleManias would be a huge step backwards.

Indoors.
Besides the better sound and other bonuses, WWE took a big chance to have WM outdoors in Miami.
How bad would it be if there was a major storm the day of WM. Besides everyone being soaked and probably problems with pryo (winds) the ring would basically become as slippery as an Ice rink.
Tommy Dreamer wrestled here in Illinois over the weekend at an outdoor event where it rain. It was quick but a heavy rain, and people were slipping all over the place on the ring according to his twitter.

It doesn't make a difference to me. As long as there's a good card and a vocal crowd, indoors = outdoors and vice versa. And as far as stadiums not containing the sound, anyone ever seen Summerslam '92? That outdoor crowd was as loud as any ever. Even back to Showdown at Shea and the first Great American Bash, both with far fewer than 80,000 in attendance, but a very vocal crowd. I think wrestling fans are more so desensitized in todays day and age, and that's reason for their sometimes mute reaction at the Grandest Stage of them All.

I've been to WrestleMania 25 Indoors, and Mania 28 outdoors. For me, I enjoyed outdoors a lot better being there live. It just wasnt like anything I've seen before, a way bigger feel than the indoor stadium with the same amount of seats. And about pops going into the air I don't think that's true live. Crowd reactions at Mania 28 live we're LOUD. Maybe louder that Mania 25 in doors. I do think for whatever reason indoor pops come off better on TV, but when ur there live it doesn't make a difference. When Rock came out at Mania 28 it was one of the loudest pops I've ever been a part of live, but watching back on TV it just not the same. Plus I really enjoy the fireworks off the stadium in outdoors. So I'd say personally, I enjoy out doors way more. I think as long as they keep picking smart locations for outdoors, they'll be fine

An indoor stadium is best.

Indoor. I'm dreading seeing a WM being rained out.

One thing about sporting events like football (the proper one), is there is usually microphones (the fluffy ones) scattered around the edge of the pitch to capture the crowd noise and enhance it which would be harder to do at a WrestleMania as theres no pitch edge to work with. They should find a way to incorporate this into their design of WM XXX so the crowd has a bit of noise to it, it makes the event so much better its unreal really.

Nothing better than a clearly audible sweary chant on Sky.

Indoor is better. Glad we don't have to see those dreadful 4 stands around the ring. It must suck for the people who weren't able to see, because it blocked their view. Like those palm tree's lol

The reason why the crowds seems louder at football and soccer games is because they use a lot of microphones to pickup crowd noise. While today's fans seems desensitized, it all boils down to how the crowd noise is picked up. In a indoor stadium, there is so much space sound can travel. While the sound doesn't travel quickly enough, remember the physics of sound. As for outdoor stadiums, the amount of space sound can travel is infinite. By placing microphones are key spots, you can pickup the crowd noise to make it seem louder when transmitted to television. I am part of the minority but I really don't care if WrestleMania is held indoors and outdoors. As long as it seems the crowd really is into the match(es), that's all I care about.

Doesn't really matter to me. The only "visual" I care much about is how the stage looks.

Indoors if only because of the effect the outdoors has on crowd noise.
