Hello , I just got back into the game well I was never really in it Except for Hot toys Batman line and Patrick Roy Mcfarlanes so Im Collecting Jakks Classic Golden era WWF figures as I didnt care for the over articulation in the Mattel line and of course the roster depth issue and Im gonna do mostly a mid 80s card and I was sold after I saw the Jakks WM1 and WM2 Rings , Wow a Dream come true so I went with the Steel cage version for versatility and talked a guy down to $180 as I heard the WM 1 had weak ring posts so I started searching everything on feebay on figures and found tons of deals with a simple rule $13 in box and $8 loose but display only and NO BID WARS and when the smoke cleared I had 93 pieces of what I wanted with only a few left to score . I mostly tried to work offline around feebay and offered gift payments, I save they save and one seller even gave me a great bundle deal maybe 40 pieces on the way from him most in box for $8 or lower and my record $1.49 for classy Freddie Blassie and he only added $2 combined shipping fee per figure that really worked wonders as I got Rude , Ventura , Kamala , Perfect , HTM , Martel , Sherri , Dynamite Kid , The Hammer . Now on some like Earthquake, King Harley / Haku or White Sherri I had to go $15 range and I noticed even out of box Hogan and Andre are in the $20 range out of box mint and the only good Hulk is the sweatband and Typhoon is another tough one maybe $30. 2 packs and 3 packs were a tad harder but I wanted the 3 pack Hart foundation because of the great colored Tag Team belts and bundled Bundy , Sheik , Volkoff and Demolition for $100 shipped a bit higher but tons of extras and some in those pieces alone like Bundy cost $30 plus out of box and after 5 straight days of this Im spent and only have to get a 4 by 4 table for table for the ring and find a vintage Announcing Table but I saw a blue one at Ringside which I will doctor up with WWF logo I bought on feebay for the personal touch . Im not much of a modder but I gotta make a Dream Team Brutie and somehow I stumbled upon a guy who makes custom gear for nearly every wrestler and his work is amazing on most as I ordered a checkered Yoko robe , BJS robe , 2 Beefcake and a Hogan Made in American shirt , pretty crazy stuff I didnt know anyone did this really cool and if you dont like painted on tights he makes cloth ones and I even watched a you tube Video how to operate on Jakks figures . Ill probably open most of them over time crap I used to even open my presents before Christmas so whats the difference but I'll do it carefully cutting the first layer of shell film around the boarded and popping the figure out so if I ever resell at least the box is intact as these will be display only . Now heres my only issue so far and I know the scale issue from say superstars to deluxe and deluxe being scaled down less bulky but whats up with the Huge Managers and before I spent money on Fuji a bit pricey is it me or do they dwarf the wrestlers ? I mean look at the picture below the scale from Mr.1derful to Earthquake is near perfect for a cheaper toy but look at Heenan width , size and depth .
So am I crazy or are all Mangers and announcers out of scale in this series ? and does it happen within the line of Classic Superstars ?
As always thanks in advance

90% of Jakks figures were out of scale. At the time it wasnt a bad thing but as time moved on and we got figures that were more properly scaled, its something harder for some to over come. The Classic line is a great line with tremendous depth but it also has a lot of "nit picky" faults. If you can look over the faults (Like Hogan & DiBiase being built the same or Heenan being taller then most of the Heenan Family) then its a perfect line to collect.

I can live with stuff like Hogan and MDM but Man I got two Heenans black for Bundy and Studd and Purple for Kings Haku and Harley Race and hes taller but the other issue is depth ? very poorly done . Question? do you know if the feet pop out like the arms ? if so Ill trim his pant legs 1" and redrill posts , Man I remember I had the same problem with Taker and Paul Bearer too Sorry I couldnt post the picture but it was Earthquake , Wonderful and Bobby , now Quake to Wonderful was believable but Heenan dwarfed the quake .

Ultimately, you just can't care about scale/proportions/figure detail and be a happy Jakks collector. The Jakks classic line has two great elements: Range of characters and they're relatively cheap to buy. That's the part you need to focus on. If you start worrying about scale, accurate physiques, proper details on the tights etc, it'll drive you crazy.

Thanks !!! But they're not all cheap especially MIB I really had to look for mine and deal, do you or anyone know if the foot can be removed as I hate to ruin my weasel , from what I see its gotta be a through pin and then the foot swings on the pin and the mount . thanks

Yeah, they're not all cheap, but they are great for building a huge roster for a decent price. I don't know about taking the feet off, sorry. Might be worth asking in Customs Support Center in the customs section.

I for one welcome another jakks collector to the board. Thanks youll be seeing a lot of me and I would love to learn more about them and why Jakks lost the contract or can they still make them as we will never see another Golden era roster like this ? I did it guys I shrunk my Weasel and thats the good news but the bad news is it took me 4 hours , I mean I was done in like 1 hour and the second foot gave me some as I dremeled to close to the sides of the foot wall and then when I put the pin in there wasnt enough meat to hold it . Im sure others have done it but I couldnt find anything on you tube except popping of heads , arms and hands so I first heated up the foot over tap water and popped it out with a punch , sawed off almost a half inch but by doing that I lost the pin channel but no problem as I will be using them as display anyways . Then I cleaned it up and hollowed out a new channel for the foot post to sit and drilled two new pin holes but lining up the new holes with that horrible Jakks dumbbell pin was a joke but I got one in no problem and the second as I mentioned wasnt possible because of lack of wall so I used a bbq skewer and built up the post hole for a tight fix and then a little glue on each hole and then painted it . Now Bobby was 6'0 saw him alot in Chicago when he wrestled so he wasnt tiny so instead of making him super short I made him normal because Mr 1derful was also 6'0 and since he will only be a visual I can bend he knees a tad and hes even smaller so the best of both world as I lucked out. I wish I could post images but I dont see a simple link where I can pull images from my desktop ( like a click and Drag )so if any one can help me I would appreciate it and I have Sensational Sherri coming too so if shes to tall I think I can fix her too by popping the pin cutting the ankle and then making a new female part of the ankle . Well I guess I can order Mr Fuji now with no worries and I will post pics as soon as someone tell me how .

I can deal with gurth like Quake should be rounder but height is just a no no and it just looks horrible when not done right and I can live with the wrestlers but women and managers it really wrecks the whole ambience and atmosphere but I'll tell you this with the proper Heenan height modification his thickness and depth is no longer a issue . Im dying to post these Pictures someone show me how . Well I been up 19 hours and running on fumes but Im gonna start putting together the WM2 Steel cage Ring by Jakks ! that is like a dream come true but whats with all the robed figures and that color bleeding into the wrestlers figure ?

Welcome. As a die-hard CS collector, I kept mine MOC so I didn't care about scale. I grew up with Hasbros where I didn't care if Bret Hart was taller than Andre, unlike the spoiled kids of today's world where they cry if there figures are not in scale.

Same here but out of whack scale is unacceptable on some of these but most are great with excellent faces

Oh yes. All Jakks managers look like they could kick the cr@p out of their wrestlers. Also I hate that Big John Studd is so short when standing next to the Brain. If I remember correctly only the Blassie figure was shorter.

Just got My Jake the Snake Green vest version in and he fits in pretty well but could be taller and Im not complaining but if Jakks would have had a scale break down formula and converted it things would have been much more realistic but the balance between Quake , the Snake and Mr 1derful is surprisingly good and I hope it doesnt change much from series to series ? . Its weird as Im not really a mod guy but I cant wait to cut into my next Manager and i just ordered Yoko ,Studd , Hogan their gear from a online guy and Beefcake 3 outfits , Dream Team here I come !

Ok got in around 50 CS today I even helped the Postman carry them to the house and probably another 50 today and heres some quick thoughts I like the Hulk Blassie in Pink with Sheik and volkoff and I really enjoy all the Tag teams Especially the 3 pk Hart foundation in pink but man those head harness glasses are a joke so I put Anvils on Jimmy Hart . THE GREATS !!!!! The Killer Bees look great , George The Animal , The Hammer and the Freebirds for posing and I found a great Hulk from a WM6 vs Warrior but he has hair I guess its really rare and was made to look like during the ma tch as Hogan hates the totally bald figure look but the guy wanted $200 plus , you can see the wear on warrior face and chest . Well Time to Mod Jimmy Hart to 5"8 and Improved upon my 5 hour Heenan mod time . Oh and only one minor complaint cant anyone make a decent king kong bundy ? The LJN rubber one is still the best as the CS one is ok except his head looks like 2 of the Curlys from the 3 stooges as the shadow is a tad too heavy dont you think ?

Ok Heres some Pics of what Im trying do and I really did try to Buy a lot of display quality , maybe 40 pieces more coming friday and only Hogan was kinda crappy I guess the Hulkamania shirt was dusty dirty but it didnt come out easy so Im gonna get a new one from spam . Sadly I sold all my Bane HT 1/6 figures for double best investment ever !!! and My Bat Hot toys are going next as I never ever collect two things at the same time . But I gotta keep the Patrick Roy Mcfarlanes as it took a lot of time to create so two shelves with have to do for Jakks CS .
