I live in a city with over 100K people and we have a Walmart, Target and two Shopkos. We have two scalpers living here, plus maybe a few casual collectors and a couple dozen kids who pick up the Cenas and the rest if theres leftovers. (Its weird how i know this but ive seen the people who go into the aisles repeatedly) Our city has had (since ive been collecting) four Elites series skipped. I've never seen E16, E18, E20 or E21 in my town. They send one case of basics to my Target and that's about it. If I missed it I typically don't get another shot at it unless I find it online. Shopko is Targets "special" brother so I usually don't count them because of the scalper employees in the back. My two Shopkos combined have SIX E15 MYSTERIOS. Shopko hasn't had an entire basic series in stock since B9. Since then it's just been signature series garbage. It's either hit or miss in my town. This is exactly what I'm talking about. It proves how crappy distribution is. Obviously the demand is there, it's just the supply and distribution that is bad. It may not be directly Mattel as 1 post noted, but the obviously on the stores. Every time I am in a store and ask if they have more in the back, I always get a comment from a store employee that the figures sell as soon as they come in. Since these stores are in the business of making money you would think they would stock the shelves with product the moves in and out quickly.

Driving 45 minutes equals out to me just buying them on RSC. Gas = the few extra $ per fig. Unless my wife and I are traveling out of town or something. Then we take her car becuase she has a company gas card.

Target is the worse when it comes to this. They get 2 cases and in 2 days they are gone. Then those pegs are empty for a month.

I would order from RSC or wait for them to hit near me but I dont want to screw myself on that Mankind fig. It'd be great if we had some info by now..

Everytime I buy a fig I'm like "Sh*t, I wish TRU would have these to count towards the promo." But I plan on buying both BAF sets, so that should cover me.

I bet that we don't get any info on mankind and/or the big book figure/mailaway until ringsidefest. That gives them a chance to show something new since SDCC and I bet the promo starts 10/1. I can't think of any other reason why they'd be holding off on announcing info at this point

Target is the worse when it comes to this. They get 2 cases and in 2 days they are gone. Then those pegs are empty for a month. This was going to be my point as well. I would say there is like 300,000 people within the 30 minute area I look for figures and it seems I always run into empty pegs at Walmart and Target. TRU just over orders imo. Like they'll get 15 cases of E18 and then they won't go away, so that's a matter of them finding a happy medium. Target to me makes no sense because they always have empty pegs for months at a time. It seems the demand is there for the most part in my area but we really don't see the figure volume at WM and Target. I still haven't seen E22 anywhere but a case of E23 did show up at TRU already. We normally get things 3-4 weeks later on most Mattel stuff but distribution has been unusually funky lately around me. I'd say it's gotten worse in the last year rather than better. I think up to E18 I'd seen every figure at retail and then that ended. I don't know how people collect Basic Divas because I feel like I never see those at the store unless I get lucky and there is a fresh case out.

If you live in either the US or the UK, you have absolutely NOTHING to complain about!

If you live in either the US or the UK, you have absolutely NOTHING to complain about! Europe gets screwed over for figures, plain and simple. I was looking at the Turkish ebay and they literally only had FlexForce figures on there. I can't imagine what you guys go through.

Distribution has been great in 2013. I just think this hobby is getting bigger and bigger. There is also no denying that it depends on your area. What grade stores do you have? A, AA, or AAA? Higher volume stores are usually gonna get the good stuff. There's 400k people in my city. Within 30 minutes I can visit 6 WM's, 6 Kroger Mktplaces, 3 KM's, 2 Targets, 2 Gordmans, 2 Meijers, 2 Big Lots, 1 Sears and 1 TRU. We have that many Krogers in the area? And what is the 3rd Kmart besides Lex and Georgetown? Also, 3 Meijers, Richmond has a pretty good one too

I understand the argument but mattel is trying.
I know jakks did a way better job ensuring all stores recieved all series and in the same quantities each shipment.
Mattel has more product lines to worry about and cant possibly be as good at distribution

Mattel has more product lines to worry about and cant possibly be as good at distribution See my post above with the video game example. It is possible to properly meet consumer demand.

For those of you posting how stores are close to you I bet many of you can support the poor distribution argument. How many times have you gone on a figure run hitting a half dozen stores and not found what you were looking for even though you knew the most recent series had been out for some time?

I think it's a matter of retailers ordering fewer figs than in the Jakks days. And then they get spread out thinner across distribution centers and stores. For instance, the Target I used to work at was the farthest out from our DC so stuff would frequently get sent to the inner city ones before they would send it to us. If they ran up before we got any, we were just out of luck.

Well, I haven't found E23 anywhere in my area yet.... and I've been stalking 3 K Marts, 1 TRU, 2 Wal Marts, and a Target.....
Never had to hunt like this when JAKKS was doing them..... but I usually end up finding what I'm looking for eventually. I'm just very impatient.
