With the recent fiasco of Ben Affleck being cast as Batman, I've thought to myself. Who really never fit the role given to them, or should never have played a certain role in a film or TV Show.
Here's a few examples of mine.
-Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr Freeze -Keanu Reeves as John Constantine (he wasn't bad, but just didn't fit the character after finding out what the character was actually like) -Ben Affleck as Daredevil -Jennifer Garner as Elektra -Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider -Halle Berry as Catwoman(didn't help either that everything else was awful as well)
I'm sure I'm forgetting others, but I'm just wondering who you thought was or is seriously miscast in Movies & TV Shows?

Yeah, until Affleck actually plays Batman, people need to chill the out, but I like the thread idea. Anna Paquin as Rogue. She's actually an atrocious fit for the character imo. Had she played Sookie instead of the timid, emotional, scared little girl, I would have been all for it. Probably my biggest frustration with the X casting to-date. Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern. I'm a fan of RR, but he's a Wally West or Deadpool kind of guy. Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane, ruined a great deal of that trilogy for me. Also, since when is MJ not sexy. Tobey Macguire as Spider-man (played a solid throwback Peter, but a horrid Spidey imo) TLJ as Two-Face. Didn't work for me at all really. It was too comical and I think the role needed to be filled by someone more sinister to play off JC's Riddler. Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. I know he was in Avengers so it's blasphemous or whatever, but Ed Norton was such a better fit for the part and I battled with that throughout the entire film. I think Ruffalo is a great actor but not for that role. I think the majority of actors in X-Men Origins Wolverine were casting mistakes. RR as Wade Wilson and Taylor Kitsch being Gambit were the two exceptions imo. There have been some casting choices I didn't think would work but I think turned out well. Reeves as JC and Affleck as Matt Murdock being two that standout. Hugh Jackman overcame the height backlash pretty quickly I think as well for fanboys demanding a smaller statured Wolverine.

Basically all of these are from Comic book movies, and a lot of them are beyond what you'd call poor casting:
Taylor Kitsch as Gambit - Completely missed the mark with him. He's a bad actor and didn't look remotely like Gambit. He was also crammed into the film. Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler - He was only cast because he can speak German. Aside from that he brought nothing to the character. For me, he ruined the entire film. Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin - To my knowledge Kingpin was never black in the comics. I don't want to see a black Kingpin anymore than I want to see a white Blade or a dog playing Wolverine. Andrew Garfield as Spiderman - Probably the worst choice on the list. TM perfectly emobodied Spiderman in his trilogy of films. Spiderman is supposed to be a nerd, and TM is almost identical to how Spiderman was in the original comics. I know that in the more modern comics they've made Spiderman look more like a male model, but that doesn't mean that it's good, and neither was the casting of AG as Spiderman... In fact the casting in general was poor in this film (a part from Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy). Christian Bale as Batman - The films may have been good, but Bale's Batman is hard to believe. His "batman voice" just sounds terrible and when you could have had David Boreanaz playing him, it seems ridiculous to think they got Bale with a goofy haircut, annoying mouth and huge wart to play him. Oh hey, Batman you know you have a huge wart on your nose where Bruce Wayne does? George Clooney as Batman - Probably worse than Bale. Nicolas Hoult as Beast - When you follow up Kelsey Grammer's version, you're not going to be as good but jeez did they have to cast someone that you want to punch in the face? Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut - No explanation needed.
Upcoming will probably add: Jamie Foxx as Elektro and "Michael B. Jordan" as Human Torch.
There are more, but to me those are the worst.
Also to the guy above me, saying TM was miscast as Spiderman is like saying RDJ was miscast as Stark. TM was perfect as Spiderman. BUT I agree with Mark Ruffalo. Yeah the Hulk was awesome in The Avengers, but Bruce Banner wasn't... He just looked like a dirty old man, and Ruffalo had no influence in the awesomeness of the Hulk.

Denis Leary as Captain Stacey in The Amazing Spider Man. Only because he'd have been the PERFECT Nornan Osborn.

Based on some of these lists I fully expect to hear Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and RDJ as Stark.
Reynolds as GL was great IMO. Would have preferred Chris Pine though. I could see Pine pulling it off a tad better.
Kitsch as Gambit was also great IMO. Josh Holloway would have been an equally good choice, but Kitsch is such a phenomenal actor. His role in the movie was small, so there wasnt much to work with. But he really captured his small time he had on screen.

Along the comic book lines...
Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman. Jennifer Garner as Electra. Halle Berry as Catwoman Dolph Lundgren as the Punisher
Also, I thought Michael Clarke Duncan was perfect as Kingpin. The only thing is his skin color, and it isn't necessary for him to be white. He had all aspects of the character down. I can't think of anyone who would have been a better fit.

Here's another one I forgot to mention.
Chris Evans as both Captain America and The Human Torch, I really don't like the guy and I remember someone who I worked with briefly, was working as an extra, said he was a real egomaniac. The way he portrayed characters in the movies I've seen him in, always seemed to be rude obnoxious brats.
This is just my opinion, I just never felt he looked or portrayed a good role in Fantastic 4 and I've only seen him in Avengers, which I thought he was a dullard in, hey I've never watched Captain America because of my disliking of him and I probably never will watch it. Stupid I know, it's just the weird way I am I guess.

Bale as Batman? Cumming as Nightcrawler? Affleck as Daredevil? Evans as Captain America? Affleck as BATMAN (which hasn't even ing happened yet)? Jesus. High standards. I didn't like all of those choices on paper but did you watch the movies? Cumming and Evans, in particular, absolutely nailed their roles. Well, that's the internet for you. I'd say Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, Denise Richards (The World Is Not Enough) and Tara Reid (Alone in the Dark) as scientists, Kristen Stewart in everything, Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Dark Knight, and Nicolas Cage in Ghost Rider. Edit: Also, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter in Les Miserables. They were out-of-pitch with the rest of the movie in every possible way. Side note: I've read that Marvel Studios got the rights to Ghost Rider and I really hope they make a cool movie with the character.

The most recent one coming earlier today of Warner Brothers casting Grant Gustin over Matt Barr for Barry Allen / The Flash on Arrow / the new Flash TV Series.
GTFO!
Looks nothing like Barry Allen, doesn't look intimidating & is too young, I just can't believe a teen Barry Allen.
Maybes if they had have casted Grant as Wally West, I could have believed that & he looks more like Wally than Barry.

THIS!
Plus
Maggie Gylenhall in anything that calls for a woman who should be sexy/pretty. She is dog ugly IMO.

I seriously don't have any problems with Bale in any Batman movies.
What exactly bothers you lot about his performance?

I seriously don't have any problems with Bale in any Batman movies. What exactly bothers you lot about his performance? Its the cool thing to do now. Everyone was nut hugging Bale before Batman Begins. They continued after The Dark Knight, then Affleck gets the Batman role and people are pissed so there has to be a group that rebels and says Bale was awful. Outside of Adam West, Bale has played the most realistic Batman for the role. As for Miscast roles, I still put Shia LaBeouf in Transformers as #1. I just cant take the kid from Even Stevens seriously in an action movie.

Ruffalo was a much better Banner for me, and I liked his chemistry with the other actors
