I buy my TVs at BB and have never had a problem returning them for the same TV. When I set my TV up I do the "XBOX" test, to see if there's any dead pixels and if there is I just bring it back for another new one. I've had this problem twice. Once my screen was shattered when I opened up the box and the other I had 2 dead pixels. Both TVs I brought back were exchanged for the same TV NIB.

Well the main problem is you bought a Sony. Unless it says "Playstation" afterwards, you couldnt pay me for anything Sony, especially a TV. Uh. Actually, Sony products are actually pretty quality. The headphones are not only durable, but great sounding, their Walkman Series is a solid line of low price, quite functional MP3 players, and Sony Televisions have never done me wrong. Hell, I even broke a Walkman, and contacting Sony about it was a (no pun intended) walk in the park. Maybe I'm just lucky, maybe not, either way, Sony stuff is A-OKAY.

Yep, I took the TV back and they gave me a new one. They didn't even bother to look at the old one to check it for the dead pixel.
As a replacement I got a Samsung 32" 1080p which was half the price of the Sony (on Sale I believe). So I got $300 back. This new Samsung is a SmartTV too, but for the price I paid I didn't care. I'm not totally sure why this new one was so much cheaper, but it comes with an extra USB and HDMI output, plus the external hard drive reader plays WAY MORE formats than the Sony did. So I can't complain.

Lol at the Sony bashers. Nike and Microsoft suck too And I have a Vizio LED in our bedroom and its fabulous. You do know that all the smaller companies you names.....Emerson, Vizio, Sanyo, etc they are owned/made by a bigger, better brand right? But I think Samsung is the best. Same here, I have a 42' Vizio and it looks great. Had it about 4 years now.

I got a 42" LG Plasma for £250 on eBay (new not used) on xmas day last year (their post-xmas sales had already begun). Its absolutely fantastic. Cool that you got a better tv cheaper.

While this is usually true, it doesn't always mean you're getting a quality TV. They may use panels made by higher quality manufacturers, but some bargain brands don't put in enough effort elsewhere (or buy bottom of the barrel, outdated panels) to create worthwhile product. If you ever want to know what's actually inside a bargain brand TV, you can usually find out by searching through various tech forums. AVS is usually helpful. A brand like TCL, for example, is virtually unknown and offers TVs for pretty cheap prices, but they are known for using higher end panels, I believe Samsung. It's been a while since I've been in the market, so I might be off there. And for the record, as I previously mentioned, i think the hate for Sony and Vizio is unwarranted. Sony is overpriced, but they still make quality product. Vizio will never be considered a techy dream, but they make good, affordable consumer televisions.

I have a Vizio in my bedroom and it's my favorite TV in the house.
Certain companies have limitations on how many dead pixels a TV can have before they justify taking it back. I'm glad your store had no problem with it being returned, because if it'd gone beyond their return policy, you would've been stuck with it.

If it were me, after the 2nd issue with the same model I would change models. It might be annoying to go through the whole process, but I wouldn't want to take a 3rd chance.

Between myself and my family, we have probably 10 Samsungs, and all work fantastic. Regarding your TV though, definitely bring it back

Return it, and if the replacement has the same issue, which I'd doubt, return that one.

Take it from me, dude, you need to exchange that damn thing and get a different brand. I do not consider myself to be one of those impossible-to-please type people, but I went through FIVE 60" Sony Bravia sets in a year due to consistently poor panel quality. Every unit I received was progressively worse (clouding, dead pixels, dark lines) and I was convinced that, because Bravia is supposedly a higher-end Sony model, it must just be a fluke. No sir. After POS #5 I opted for Sony to buy back the set and I took that money and bought a 70" Sharp Aquos THAT IS F*CKING PERFECT.
The worst part about the whole experience, however, was not the issues themselves, but Sony's dispicable "customer service." I use the term loosely, as I have since reasoned that the "service" they are referring to are the nosebleed-inducing headaches and a raging fit of misanthropy the customer is left with after speaking to these people. It literally took me MONTHS of lies, accusations, run-arounds, unreturned phone calls, unreturned emails and even threats before I could get a replacement... BETWEEN EACH TV! FOR ALL FOUR REPLACEMENTS!!
I'm telling you, Sony's LED LCD products, ESPECIALLY the edgelit models, are all sh*t.
