Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a predicament.
I almost exclusively buy elites but I'm thinking of only buying basics from now on. (Other than exclusives, flashbacks etc) because it would be cheaper.
I don't really play with my figures, sometimes I do, but mainly I have them posed on my shelf. I've ordered all of E23 and was originally getting all of E24 other than mysterio but now I'm thinking, Barrett is almost exactly the same as B31 with the IC Title and Rubber shirt. I alreafy have that title and I can get a fabric shirt for a few pound so why bother?
Has anyone else recently made this same change? What are your thoughts on this?

I was thinking about this as well, it doesn't seem like a bad idea because you get more variety in basics

Yeah and I think some of the bodies look better as basics. For example I prefer Tensai and Rybacks basics to elites

Daniel Bryan always has better basics then Elites. But I'll stick with Elites for now.

Honestly I totally agree with you. The prices of basics and elites has been out of control lately. There is also more variety for basics and Mattel makes more obscure superstars that will never see the elite line.
Basics come out faster and outfit/wrestling gear changes and variety than Elites. Price for me has a huge influence for not being able to collect at all lately. So perhaps I also may switch over to the basic line as well...

You clearly prefer Elites better. Maybe be a little more patient. Instead of buying that Basic Barret, you could have waited for the elite version and payed about the same if you plan on adding a shirt. I don't think Id be able to make that switch and be satisfied. And wether playing or just posing, elites workout better IMO.

Basics are updated and released a hell of a lot quicker. If you think the Shield is hitting now and the elite versions in a couple of months are basically the same. I don't need the accessories so I'll probably skip E25 unless I want Bruno

Basics display really well, but you don't get the elite acessories. But those can always be found on ebay. I only buy elites of guys I'm a big fan of, if they come with sweet accessories, or the scan or attire looks better. I'm not strictly elites and against basics like some. I don't play with my figures so it doesn't bother me.
One example is B28 Tensai, from torso to headscan, is a better figure than E22......imo. But E22 Sandow is better than B28. Again, just my opinion.

There's a difference of about £7 between them at retail so unless I want the accessory I'll probably get the basic instead. I might buy a few more Punks now too lol

I only have 12 Elites, and I only bought them for accessories. I mainly collect Basics because I don't pose, and the variety is better. We'll never get a Trent Barreta, Tommy Dreamer, Mason Ryan, Alex Riley, Hurricane, Primo, Epico, Curt Hawkins, Michael McGillicutty or David Otunga Elite. Might as well get the basics. I've never understood why people who don't play or pose prefer Elites to basics. Does the extra articulation matter if you're not doing anything with it?

I'm thinking about going the opposite way. I've been close to a completist since the beginning but now I'm thinking about cutting out the basics or at least be more selective. I saw B32 on the pegs but had no real desire to buy them.

I buy both Elites and Basics. I buy Basics and keep them MOC (excluding a few). I buy Elites just because A) I love the extra detail, & 2) I play with them. I'm not ashamed that I play with my Elites whatsoever, it's so fun. I do have more Elites than Basics though. The same goes for more Deluxes than RA.

I buy basics majority of the time. A lot of people who haven't got an elite have at least one basic. I own 8 Elites and probably 40 basics. I just use them for display. If I was going to play with them I'd buy only Elites

I collect most basics. My goal is to have at least 4 elites.

I display all of mine. But I got like, 10 Elites and 15 basics or something. I'm a sucker for belts and shirts so I buy elites.

I just turned 29 and not ashamed that I play with each and every one of my figures! lol I had fun with my figures at 9 years old, and even MORE 20 years later at 29! haha...I can spend hours admiring my or other people's collections or setting up my own custom arenas haha glad im not alone on this!

I've been a basics only collector since day 1 for these simple reasons.
1. More variety in the line. 2. Cheaper price point. 3. I don't play with my figures so extra articulation isn't needed. The ab articulation on elites looks dumb IMO. 4. Easier to find at retail.

I enjoy the price of basics compared to elites for sure. Especiwlly when amazon has battle packs for $16 like they do right now.

Big fan of Basics and recently made to switch from Elite to Basics. Very happy with that.
