Now before we get right into it, let's hope nobody brings up HOW either man died - if you get my drift. Cause then that causes problems, and fights on here and such, and that's not what this thread is about.
I am just curious, if Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit never died, do you think they would still be wrestling in the WWE??
We know Eddie was going to win the World Title off Batista, and Benoit was going to be ECW Champion, but what else do you think these two guys would have done??
Let the mature discussion about this topic begin!!

I would say yes they would. Eddie more than Benoit only because who knows how bad Benoit's neck would be at this point? They may have forced him to retire like Edge.

I think Beniot would have had a nice ECW title run, then maybe a world title run and definitely a US title run. A dream send off for Beniot would have been him vs Daniel Bryan in a belt vs career match and Beniot passes the torch
Eddie could probably still be wrestling and think about it, we wouldn't have had to suffer through Mysterios push either. Eddie would have had some great matches with Ziggler,Bryan,Punk,. Also if Eddie never died Vickie might never have been on TV either

Well, I'm gonna go there. If Benoit wouldn't have died, his wife and son would still be alive and we wouldn't know what a bastard Benoit was.

For me it's hard to say, because it could have changed the whole landscape of what we see today. It's like the Butterfly Effect, change one little thing and everything is affected and changes. First and foremost there would be no Wellness Policy right now, or something else would have had to happen to put it in effect, and who knows what that might have come from that. I think the whole Eddie/Benoit WMXX celebration would be seen a lot more. And the 3 way from WMXX would probably be in the the new Video Game coming out. I honestly think by this point, both Benoit & Eddie, if they chose to still be wrestling would be on a Jericho/RVD schedule, where they wouldn't be around all the time, but from time to time.

They'd both be in TNA. Vince would bring back ECW. Remembering they were both 'former ECW guys' they'd get drafted to that show. Then, they'd both get tired of it and leave. Angle would follow soon after.

Benoit would probably be done with in ring stuff at this point. Probably be backstage or at NXT. Probably got an ECW run, plus more tag/mid card title runs as well.
Eddie would probably either be on air talent (GM or announcer) or like benoiy, doing nxt work.
Both had nagging injuries and would have eventually slowed down, in ring wise. But overall I would still see them working for WWE.
Maybe benoit would have left for 1 last Japan run, if WWE wanted him to stop. I don't see him as the type to get a diagnoses from a Dr and stop like Edge did.

Personally, I don't see either man still being active performers today. The bodies of both Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were beaten to a point their minds couldn't recover. The grueling schedule the WWE places on talent is a killer physically and psychologically. Benoit would have been forced to retire (ala Edge in 2011) due to his neck. As for Guerrero is concerned, he would have retired by 2007-2008. Guerrero's body was beaten so bad on the inside due to his drug habits and his body wouldn't have been able to withstand taking bumps.
Obviously the landscape would have been drastically different if both Benoit and Guerrero would have been alive today. The Wellness Program wouldn't have been enacted, we would have seen a classic between Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 22, CM Punk would have squared off against Chris Benoit. Rey Mysterio wouldn't have been given his push in 2006. The possibilities are endless. Wrestling has become a young man's game in 2013. No matter what sport you choose to get into, your body will always get beaten up. It doesn't mater how you maintain your health. Wood and steel are two things that causes immense damage to a persons body.

I think they both would be. Possibly winding down now. I'm just thinking of all of the amazing matches we would of gotten with the talent that came after.

We dont *know* that Eddie was going to win the title again. Its just been rumored. Honestly I would be surprised if he won the title again. The likely hood was that Orton would be given the title and then Orton & Guerrero would begin to feud while Batista took time off. At the time Orton was still seen not only as the future but also as reliable, unlike Guerrero.
That all being said, I doubt either one of them would be in WWE now. They would both have been mid-late 40s. There's pretty much only 1 full time WWE wrestling in this age range (Kane) and he's been taking a lot of time off as well as put in a lot of tag matches to slow wear and tear.

I think they'd both be wrestling part time.

It doesn't add anything to the convo. And you're wrong anyway, because if Benoit had lived, he still would have already murdered his family. Benoit would just be in jail.

Stephanie McMahon herself already said the plan was for Eddie to win the title the night he died. Then again, I believe Batista said Orton was supposed to win. I'm more inclined to trust the head of creative speaking the night it was supposed to happen rather than Batista who was recalling the events several years after it happened. As for Orton being more reliable than Eddie, that's laughable. Orton had several injury and disciplinary problems just before and just after Eddie died.

If we are talking realistically, Benoit would have sadly been dead within a year anyway. If we are talking about the ideal situation, they both probably would have had another few big runs then either go part time, have a non-wrestling role, and/or running a wrestling school.
A lot of people think they would have landed in TNA but I don't really see that happening at least with Eddie. Chris on the other hand may have possibly ended up in TNA. It seemed that Benoit was either going to be taking longer breaks or requesting a smaller schedule, at least that is what Angle was saying in 2007. I just didn't see WWE letting Benoit go at that point after letting Kurt, RVD, Big Show, and Sabu go as well as having all the injuries at the time they needed someone to solidify the ECW revival. Eddie's biggest problem never seemed to be the schedule but the pressure of ever being on top, that the reason that they took the belt off of him in the first place. Eddie really could have done a lot more while Benoit on the other had was seemingly in the position Jericho was in but was pasting these titles along as apposed to just solidifying the Champion.
Now while we are talking about this you have to remember what there deaths not only brought, not just to the wrestling world, but to sports world in general. I hate saying it but those incidents probably help the sports world a lot. If the Benoit incident never happened the protocol for concussions may had never improved in the world of sports. The same applies with steroid use in the WWE.

It has not been confirmed that Eddie would have won the World Title. That was an off comment made by Steph to please the fans (and she is one of the least credible sources to believe). He was simply working with Batista because Batista had some nagging injuries and Eddie was a safe worker.
If neither passed away Benoit would have had a solid run with the ECW Title before dropping it to Morrison (the WWE was punishing Punk at the time). Considering both world titles became hot potatoes by 2009 I think both would have had at least one more run with the world title before becoming road agents behind the scenes around 2010.

If Benoit hadn't died, he'd be in jail for murdering his wife and child.
Eddie would probably still have been in WWE for a while but by now I think he would have hung it up or went for a lighter schedule with TNA.

RVD left because his wife was ill and he wanted to spend more time with her. Big Show was burnt out and had gained a ton of weigh and left to get healthy. Sabu left because he was on a short contract and had personal issues behind the scenes. Benoit was a well respected worker and had received 5 months off when he requested it in 2006. Even before the whole incident happened in 2007 fans could clearly see that physically Benoit was breaking down and needed a lighter schedule. I believe the WWE would have given him a lighter schedule and began phasing him into a road agent position behind the scenes.

Any one else get the feeling that Benoit would be part timing or in TNA?

What I meant was the the WWE was lacking established talent at that point so I don't think the WWE was willing to let him go, so they probably would have given him a lighter schedule. Also I saw your earlier post and wanted to know if Punk was still in the doghouse because of December to Dismember or if it was something after that?

Punk was probably in the dog house for so long there because he out popped DX at Survivor Series. And you don't out pop DX!! If you do, you end up on a losing streak to Hardcore Holly on ECW for a while.
