The kneepads are absolutely fine for playing, never had any problem with an elite who's had them, only one I have had one with is Miz who shouldn't even have them on any fig nevermind a basic.

i can kinda undertand why punk for so long had long knee pads, when punk's first figures were released: 2009, cm punk was ocasionally wearing the long pads, therefore at the time the long pads were correct. i imagine the production process was fixed in a certain pattern of assemblely, eg small torso--small arms---long sleeves---legs---kickers . perhaps it is only until now that mattel has been able to alter the production/ machines and have small pads being applied on the production line, just a theory based on zero sources. mattel, it would be real cool if you could tell us more about the production process, from wrestler to figure

The knee sleeves to indeed restrict play. For instance you basically lose all of that added knee articulation that they spend so much money trying to make. Arm pads are the same. You slip one on and you immediately lose elbow articulation. The arms become TTL 98-01 arms. And we are in 2013.
I just don't get why they used such HARD plastic on these things. I seriously find myself struggling to get elbow pads on and off sometimes. And I'm a grown man. I can only imagine these poor little kids. It must be impossible for children to even maneuver these pads in the slightest. You should be able to take KNEEPADS off a figure without having to boil water, soak your figure in it, rip the boots off, and changing the pads that way. And that becomes tedious and eventually wears on you're figures.
