Wanted this to stand out, so that people actually see it.
When Bill was asked about a new Goldust figure for 2014 he said "if we do it will be late". I saw a lof of people comment that "why aren't we getting Goldust sooner!?" etc....
Here's the simple answer-
One of the first questions asked was "do you have a rough idea of all of 2014" and Bill's answer was "most of 2014 is in the books, we are now working on late 2014/early2015 Goldust has only been officially back in the WWE for a few weeks. Not to mention his attire & facepaint are different. If Mattel is almost a year out with thier planning, there is absolutely no way they would have known Goldust was coming back and they were going to need to make a new figure of him in time to get it out for say, March next year. If this was may or june I guarantee we'd have a new Goldust scheduled for early next year. Basically since Mattel is so far out with their plans, they don't have room to create a whole new Goldust and slot him in a line that's already set.
I wish I understood the process of making a figure after the head scanning. Like how does it really take an entire year to make one new figure? and I don't mean that in a general kind of way, I mean what is the exact proccess that takes so much time. A year is a really long time when you sit down and think about it

Okay. Don't know what answer you're expecting. That all makes sense to me.

They can take as long as the need on Goldust. I just hope he has a thicker body. Which is funny because I think he's actually thinner than he was when he got his first figure. Also, if they reuse a head I hope they reuse the basic head.

Yeah well...most of us probably figured that out as well. So...yeah. I get what you're trying to do, clarify and all that, but there was really no point in this.

I'd guess it's like their DC lines...One of the Horsemen told us back when they first started designing the Batman figure back in '03 or '04 it's a process. First they need to get OK from Mattel and DC for the character. Then after the initial sculpt is made it needs to go to Mattel and DC again for approval. Once they get it back they make whatever corrections were asked for and send it back for approval again. Once it's Ok"ed by both Mattel and DC they cast it and make a painted sample that is submitted to both Mattel and DC. If it meets boths approvals then Mattel makes a proto and few samples which they then send to DC for final approval. Then it goes into production so it takes of going back and forth with each step. I'm sure the WWE is the same way.

Yeah they could've showed us a new goldust at RSF if they wanted to. It'd just be a repaint but that's likely what we are getting anyway. If I were bill id take out one of the 15 Cenas ( all In khali mind you, which that look already has 20 figs) he has lined up for 2014 and swap it out for a gold dust. I would place money on the table right now that a Goldust would sell better than ANOTHER Khaki Cena. Yes we get it, his wristbands changed from blue to pink for a months. Just because someone continuously keep the exact same look but once in a while changes wristband color, dosent mean everyone is gonna rush to a figure with the new sweatbands.

Mattel would love to know everything in advance but they don't. Bill watches Raw like we do and has to wait for WWE to give MDT reference shots which is why it takes 9-12 months to get figures created. Just enjoy the ride and hope Mattel has the WWE line forever.

Last year Brock took 7-8 months
RVD is going to be 7-8 months.
Why on earth would Goldust not make it in that time frame if the already have his scans, etc?
Doesn't make since to me

I think our point is simple - Goldust has been made before, and all they'd really need to do is a repaint.....
He's been featured prominently on WWE TV for over a month now, how hard would it be to bump 1 Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, Sin Cara, or someone else who's been largely INACTIVE this year and put Goldust in their place? I promise you all those guys are probably in the early 2014 lineup....
Should that process take 1 year? I think not....
And Bill's saying it might not even happen in 2014! Utterly unacceptable! If Mattel's system is that RIGID and un-flexible, then their system needs to change - WWE's landscape changes too quickly to be tied into figure schedules a year in advance....
I don't remember JAKKS having these kinds of issues.... I feel like they were putting guys out just a few months after they appeared....

I'm sure Best of 2013 was set at one point then they added Kaitlyn in. Probably moved the other figure somewhere else. Maybe it's more difficult than it seems. Idk

Idk Yes bill is working on late 2014 early 2015 lineups now. But as I said in my earlier rant. Why the f can't he just replace a Cena or Orton in an earlier set with a Goldust. We all know Goldie would sell a lot more than either of those two. COME ON BILL Edit. Kaitlyn was slated for b30 originally. They didn't like her Proto so they pushed her back. And replaced her with an AJ repaint

Doesn't make since to me Certain guys who are bound to be hot sellers get fast-tracked. Goldust is a guy who has already had three Mattel figures, and none of them flew off the shelves at the time. I can see why he's not getting the speedy treatment.

You are probably right but I would think they would want to capatalize on his TV time, current status rather than wait around until he'd off TV or not very relevant again (like he more than likely will be by late 14 or early 15)

Exactly !
Heck just make a new Elite ringside exclusive figure of Goldust, that would probably see light of day sooner than a basic repaint of him.
Nah, just keep feeding us more Cenas, Ortons, Del Rios and of course freakin' Rey Mysterios.
