yes the simple solution IS a repaint...
what i'm saying is that Mattel has most of 2014 already planned BEFORE Goldust was even back in the company. So how could we just get a "simple repaint" in early nex year when they already have their sets planned out. They aren't changing around things just for the sake of Goldust as he will sell no matter what.

Yeah people. Either way this figure WILL be a repaint. What you think we will get a whole new body mold for him? The current one works. The problem is NOT that it's gonna take a year to make him. The problem is that they have the entire 2014 year planned out as far as series go. They don't have a slot for goldust.

Goldust won't even be on TV by the time a new figure of him comes out.

Well, I predict we'll get at least 4 more Del Rios, 4 more Mysterios, and 5 more Cenas before we get a Goldust.

Goldust won't even be on TV by the time a new figure of him comes out. Then he must not be that important. No in all seriousness, I'd like to see a mid-90s flashback.

I'd guess it's like their DC lines...One of the Horsemen told us back when they first started designing the Batman figure back in '03 or '04 it's a process. First they need to get OK from Mattel and DC for the character. Then after the initial sculpt is made it needs to go to Mattel and DC again for approval. Once they get it back they make whatever corrections were asked for and send it back for approval again. Once it's Ok"ed by both Mattel and DC they cast it and make a painted sample that is submitted to both Mattel and DC. If it meets boths approvals then Mattel makes a proto and few samples which they then send to DC for final approval. Then it goes into production so it takes of going back and forth with each step. I'm sure the WWE is the same way. Yes and after all of this, production is a whole other ball game. Testing, mould making, manufacturing valiations, approvals and QC, etc. all take a substantial amount of time and thats before packaging/shipping/etc which is even yet another chunk of the time frame. Manufacturing, tooling, etc. is a long and important process.

Off the Goldust subject
Just say they got Hogan through a WWE merchandise deal. When do you think we would have him? If he was signed on Jan would we have him by October? Brock debuted in April and we had Elite in hand in December. Surely they would change their set in stone lineups for him?

He won't be on TV when the figure comes out so all hype and demand for his figure will have died down.. Thus making the new figure a shelfwarmer..like all other Goldust figures! It would probably be in Mattels best interests profit wise to get this figure out asap.

If he needs to be on TV to sell then he isn't worth it anyway. I think you're wrong, though. But if that's your point, then he shouldn't get a figure, or they shouldn't rush him. They should make figures that they think have a good chance of selling.

Why do you think there is such high demand for his figures now and they're selling for silly prices on eBay ... Because he's returned to TV !!

I wish I understood the process of making a figure after the head scanning. Like how does it really take an entire year to make one new figure? and I don't mean that in a general kind of way, I mean what is the exact proccess that takes so much time. A year is a really long time when you sit down and think about it To put it simply, All Mattel does is trace designs and tattos in Photoshop to make paint layouts/packaging, and scan/do 3d sculpts, then print them. Everything else is done by other companies/china. Alex Riley toured mattel design process in some videos on youtube.
