So today I was having a debate with a few of my friends about Wrestling, specifically WWE. They were saying that it is fake and they don't see the entertainment factor in it because it's pre-determined and they believe that anybody could do it. It is one of the most annoying things when other people don't understand that us fans know it's fake, but not everything is fake, e.g bumps and injuries. And the fact that they had the audacity to say that anybody could do it, they don't realise the amount of training and how much time is spent on earning their craft. Anyone else experienced this with your friends?

From my experience it isn't worth the breath it takes to try and explain it to someone who doesn't understand. You only come across looking like an idiot to them.

If someone doesn't understand pro wrestling, or anything for that matter, and they've got the stance of "it sucks, I don't get it, I don't want to get it," then just leave them alone.
I don't know how anyone can take that stance on anything. If you don't understand, you should be excited to learn about it, or at least give it a shot. Those type of people are the same type of people who won't try new foods, will never experience something like a roller coaster, etc.
Basically, just enjoy your thing for yourself.
Let them continue to miss out on everything that they're too stubborn to try.
Their loss.

They were being so narrow minded, if they had a certain topic that I didn't understand, I'd at least be open minded about it before I actually sampled it. Just bugs me, although one of them said they'd at least come round and see what all the fuss was about.

i dont have many friends now a days who dont watch wrestling with me. Even if they dont like it more and more friends seem to be watching it even in their own homes. Ive known some of them for over 10 years and they know how much wrestling means to me.

I usually just ignore that kind of talk, but whenever I did respond to that kind of stuff, I just compared it to Movies/TV.

My favorite is the "YOU watch PRO WRESTLING? ... But you seem so smart!"
A quote I like is "For fans, no explanation is necessary. For non-fans, no explanation will ever do."

There's no explaining it to people
"Oh that was fake"
Well why don't you get in there and do it. And manage to get an audience that fills up your major city's entire arena while your at it.
"It's still fake"

I don't really think it's worth arguing about.
But all I can think of when people tell me that wrestling is so fake is, go tell that to Mick Foley.

When someone says something to me, I just tell them to try being thrown onto wooden planks, jumped on by a 150-200 lb person, or jump off a 12-foot ladder, and then tell me that it is fake.

It's just typical ignorance/idiocy or usually trying to get you worked up. Blood from a stone when trying to talk to people like that.
Love when they reveal to you it's all fake with a big sh*t eating grin as if it were the power to ruin your entire life.

The ignorance of non-fans is the reason why I don't tell that many people that I'm a fan of professional wrestling. It isn't worth my time to argue with a cretin who won't change their stance.

Just put on some CZW and say "How fake was that, b*tch?" The weedwacker and the double needle spot are my favorites to show. Also the Thumbtack Jack vs Jon Moxley dog collar match is a good one
