What did the R3 in R3 Tech stand for? Was it just to look and sound cool?

R-3 Tech stands for "Real Scan, Real Reaction, Real Scale." At the time, they were the first wrestling figures that didn't look super cartoony. Thinking about all the lines prior to that point, LJNs were giant rubber figures, Hasbros were 4", BCAs had limited articulation, TTLs were just ok.. and then you have R-3. The line was great at the time but was cancelled after 5 series and a few sub-series..

Those were some pretty bad ass figures, the Big Show one was amazing. Still have a few.

Those were some pretty bad ass figures, the Big Show one was amazing. Still have a few. From my childhood collecting, the last figure I bought in stores was BCA Signature Series Hardcore Holly and Big Boss Man.. Until I found the BCA Backlash series at KB. I didn't buy another figure until I saw the R-3 Big Show at Wal-Mart, completely bypassing the TTL era. R-3 is what caught my interest in figures again. In a perfect world, Jakks would scrap their Deluxe line and come up with more realistic looking figures, like R-3/Mattel and release at least 4-6 series a year. If they at least showed they were interested in getting the line going again, that would probably help bring back interest in my opinion.

As a kid I hated how these looked. As an adult I feel they were so far ahead of their time. Looking back I cannot believe they went from these to the eventual DAs (worst wrestling figures ever IMO)

I loved R3s as a kid. I had quite a few.

I still think the R3 Kane was the best Kane figure ever produced. There were some that was very, very good figures. But I remember specifically there were a few guys that had such tiny legs (Austin, Benoit) that it made them look strange.
