I'm shocked that they are apparently just going through with it. Good episode.

From what I read, Seth wants the show to stop. He feels that 7 years is long enough for a sitcom, and Family Guy has went over that clearly.
He said he also reads and hears that fans criticize the show, and say it's not funny, so he pretty much feels that if fans think that, let's go ahead and shake up the show and see if anyone notices.
But Seth wants it done with, and I think this is why. Fans will turn away, ratings will drop. He is essentially destroying his own creation.

I'm not to fussed about Brian dying it happens in TV shows beloved characters die, my anger comes from how it occured instead of doing a sweet episode to show, kind of like road to rhode island where Brian becomes defensive and upset about what has happened to his mother which was kind of heartwarming in the twisted family guy way. This stank first of all hit by a car no shouldve died peacefully, secondly lack of reaction from the majority of the family barely scratched the surface, this plot couldve lasted two or three episodes, this felt rushed.

I feel like the writers forgot how to write good episodes since the show was brought back from cancellation

Personally, I feel it should have been Chris. Meg has a purpose, being the one everyone hates, but Chris literally serves no purpose at all.

I'm not liking that they killed off Brian. I for one never hated the guy and he was one of the best characters on the show. I personally think Chris should of died since Seth Green is on another show and Chris really has no purpose at all. His character sucks. I haven't watched Family Guy in a while and most likely won't anymore.

This was a sad show. I was really mad that he got replaced by Vinny. IMO Stewie has nothing to do in the show because of him and Brian. RIP Brain. I will watch still to see how this ends up.

I thought they were gonna kill off Lois, with her dead Alex B. could still voice other female characters like she already does, and it would allow guest stars to play women Peter dates while trying to find a new wife and mother for the family. And Stewie could always find a way to bring Lois back and just negate the several episodes where Lois is dead.
Sad to see Brian go, but I'm sure they'll find ways to bring him back once in a while, and I doubt the new dog Vinnie will last too long before Stewie finds a way to bring Brian back.

Jees, I really liked Brian. Really hope they bring him back in someway, it was a really dumb move to kill of any of the characters. Even Meg!

I admit, i almost drew a tear when the Griffin Family said their goodbyes to Brian. I never saw this coming. This show is trash to me now that Brian's gone.

I lost interest in Family Guy a while back, and now with Brian gone, it'll be hard for me to regain said interest. Although I will say that I was moved when the Griffins came together after he was officially pronounced dead. That scene, along with Peter and Stewie calling him their best friend, got to me.

I can never understand why people refuse to watch a show when it does something they disagree with creatively.... it's a scripted show that killed off a main character, and apparently got a lot of people talking, which will probably increase ratings (it's November, Sweeps Month, lest we forget)..... why don't people just watch to see where they go with it? It's a TV show, for crying out loud.... these kinds of complaints are probably the reason so many shows are lame nowadays....
For once, a show that didn't end up having everything the same as it was when it began.... that's how life is!
And I don't think it's been as bad as people on here keep saying. I've been enjoying the last several episodes.....
Best line:
Vinnie to Stewie: "Can I ask you something? Why does your living room smell like puke? Did someone throw up a lot in there one time or something?"
Stewie to Vinnie: "Oh, we have so many stories to get you caught up on. Fortunately, we can watch them all on DVD!"
Vinnie to Stewie: "Are they organized by season?"
Stewie to Vinnie: "Oh, no they aren't...."

I'd only have wanted Brian to have died if it was the final episode of Family Guy.

I'm confident that he'll be back. There's some evidence that indicate he's in future episodes. There are screenshots of episodes that have not yet aired that have Brian in them.

It's not really them killing off Brian that got to me, it's them pretty much blowing it off like "Pffh, I don't think anyone will care." and acting like it was nothing that proved how clueless they are about it.

I didn't watch the episode, and I definitely am not going to now that I found out about this. I watch Family Guy to get a cheap laugh from stupid jokes and things like Conway Twitty cutaways, not to have to see what a family goes through when their dog dies. I have a dog of my own and I don't even want to think about having to live through something like this. It just doesn't appeal to me at all. It's one thing to do something goofy like The Simpsons killing off Maude by having her fall out of a stadium when she gets shot with a t-shirt cannon. This, on the other hand, just hits too close to home for me.
The overall tone of Family Guy has gotten VERY disturbingly dark in recent years to be honest, and I don't know why. The episode where Quagmire's sister is being beaten by her boyfriend and Quagmire winds up murdering him in the woods comes to mind - to me, that goes beyond comedy and watching something for enjoyment. If I want to see stuff like that I'd watch some crime drama show like CSI or Law and Order.
But anyway, yeah, this just screams of MacFarlane doing something to get people to talk because the show is on its last legs as it is. Killing off a main character like Brian who the show revolves so much around is just dumb. And replacing him with a loudmouth Italian dog? Ugh. I'll stick with watching American Dad, which has easily been the far superior show in recent years.
