And here I was actually enjoying wrestling! Shame on me, I'll piss & moan so I can fit in instead....
How dare WWE not go in the direction I assumed they would be! They have no idea what they're doing.
I assumed wrestler "X" would win but he didn't! I'll never watch wrestling again!
I only watch cause I want to see side boob on Divas. Without it... wrestling sucks!
Oh no they mentioned their app, I'm done watching for good!
Since wrestler "X" is my favorite then WWE needs to push him to the moon. If they don't it must be Triple H's fault.
John Cena keeps having these great matches. Bastard still can't wrestle.
See I'm hip, I'm happening!!

If you do not want to watch the WWE product or endorse it do not watch or endorse it. However I will continue to watch and enjoy it for what it is. WWE will never be like it was in 2000,1985,1935, or 1998. It has grown into the sports entertainment empire that it is today because of it's willingness to adapt and change with the audience. WWE is PG for many purposes and I'm perfectly fine with it. I never saw the need in blood shed wrestling to begin with. On the occasion it does happens in WWE it is special because it is no longer over done and I'm perfectly fine with it. If you want to watch WWE 1995-2003 then just turn over to TNA. The bush league company that has lost it's creative influence due to poor creative management and it's unwillingness to adapt with the audience. They will be repeating most of the big stories WWE has told over the years so if you would like to see those stories again tune into them on Thursdays on Spike.
I would also suggest leaving the Dirt-sheets alone. Do not view them and you won't have a reason to complain. The stories on the Dirt-sheets are 90% made up with the remaining 10% of it being true. So do not invest the time and effort to look over them if you are going to take everything to heart that you have read from them.

I think that's important to bring up - there's so many guys on the roster that I'm a big fan of right now. And to that point, there's still some really good wrestling happening on a nearly weekly basis. That's great, but it means nothing because there's never a story there. How am I supposed to get invested in watching The Shield vs. Cody Rhodes & Goldust for the 20th time when their feud is about as vanilla and underwhelming as it gets? They have great matches together, but that only goes so far. In terms of investment, I found the commentary last night horrendous. I harped on this a little bit in the Raw thread when it was happening but JBL made a HUGE joke about the hardcore match between Ziggler and Sandow. He was making fun of how it was called Hampton Hardcore (yes it is stupid) and how the Hamptons aren't hardcore and all this other stuff just completely belittling the match before it even happens. As commentators they should be hyping and building up the matches not ripping them apart. If they don't believe in the product and what's going on in the ring, why should the audience? I have also wondered where the lack of story telling has gone. I used to think that I was just getting older and didn't "believe" anymore, but then I thought of how invested and immersed I am in other TV shows. I'm so invested in characters on SOA, Breaking Bad, Thrones, why can't WWE be the same? These TV shows are just as scripted as WWE, and the only thing preventing WWE from telling good stories is the WWE.

Even worse, I noticed during the tag match at Survivor Series between Punk/Bryan and The Wyatts, they were talking about Raw Country instead of the match. A highly publicized "main event" on Pay-Per-View, and instead of calling it, they're talking about "that incredible performance from Florida Georgia Line!" I didn't even think to mention it because commentary is at such a piss poor all time low that nothing surprises me at this point.

There will always be people that bitch and moan for the sake of bitching and moaning, no question about it. But I don't think it's wrong to criticize the WWE when they deserve criticism. The WWE classifies itself as "Sports Entertainment." Okay, let's break down those two words and do a little examining... Sports The WWE is at an extreme disadvantage because the matches are all pre-determined. We can all appreciate that the wrestlers are still putting their bodies at risk but a casual sports fan scoffs at professional wrestling because they deem it to be fake. Why would that fan be attracted to professional wrestling when they can watch and spend their money on MMA and football? Those two sports provide hard hitting action and, most of all, their outcomes are not pre-determined. Also, a casual fan or critic could argue that wrestlers learn how to take bumps, they blade, they know how make a move look and/or sound more devastating than it actually is. So, what can the WWE and other professional wrestling organizations provide to fans that sports like MMA and football can't? Which leads me to... Entertainment The WWE has to distract the viewer that the sporting aspect of their show is choreographed. How can they accomplish that? The obvious answer is to develop meaningful and gripping storylines. Drama. They need to execute proper build ups to their matches so the blow off can actually feel real. Professional wrestling is at it's absolute best when the writers, bookers, promoters, and wrestlers make you forget that what you are watching is fake. We're at a golden age of television shows: Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, Sons of Anarchy, and the recently departed Breaking Bad. Part of what makes those shows so popular is that the writers/directors/producers make you emotionally invest in these characters. You want to see these characters embark on these unbelievable quests and you want them to succeed or fail, depending on if there a beloved or hated character. Professional wrestling is held to that same, simple standard. We want interesting storylines revolving around fascinating characters that eventually find conflict with one another that eventually blows up in a confrontation. Paul Heyman said this in an interview a few years back and it holds truer than ever today: the WWE has to look at and adopt how MMA has become successful. These aren't generic people fighting each other; they all have personalities, not gimmicks. --- The problem with the WWE is that their stories are pretty bad. When you have stories that are bad then you're audience is not going to become emotionally invested in anything. Case in point is Daniel Bryan. People were chanting his name, chanting his catchphrase, they wanted to see him become WWE Champion...and now he's out of the spotlight. Who has the spotlight? Big Show, Kane, Triple H, Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Randy Orton, and John Cena. Sorry, I think a lot of people are tired of that core.

I don't. I stopped watching. WWE is a waste of time and I hate to have my time wasted. Being a wrestling fan does not mean I am a WWE fan. And TNA.

I wait for Justin Gabriel matches, and I like AJ Lee.
Also, CM Punk, The Shield *besides Ambrose hehe*, Dolph Ziggler, Antonio Cesaro, Kofi Kingston, John Cena :X, Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Big E, and of course Daniel Bryan.

Puppets, you're simply puppets. You've allowed a company/tv show to put strings around you and every Monday (or Friday or both) nights you allow them to pull those strings so you will dance and watch their shows. No matter how many times you bitch, complain or whine you let them hold your strings and you tune in every single week. If people would take 10 minutes to turn the channel and find something else to watch then ratings would start to decline and things *might* change. I watched at best 1 minute of RAW last night because I changed the channel to something I found more interesting (Monday Night Football) and I dont regret not watching RAW at all today.

(quoting Scott Keith)
Do they even realize what a self-parody they’ve (the WWE as a whole) become? People complaining about the same guys getting pushed all the time, so we get Cena and Orton both carrying belts around and fighting each other.
Cena’s theory about why fans chant for Bryan: They’re sick of “administrative BS”. Alternative theory: They want to see Bryan.

Because we are wrestling fans. Plain and simple. We don't have to enjoy everything that is put out or pretend that everything is great. Its no different from being a fan of a bad sports team. I'm a Chicago White Sox fan. They were terrible last year but I still supported them. I am also a fan of free will. Doesn't mean I have to like what the American government has turned into.

As a fan I've learned to take the good with the bad. Show doesn't interest me, but I still have others on the show I enjoy watching. Just like if I go to the movies and I love the plot but I hated one of the actors. Doesn't mean I have to hate the whole movie does it?

I quite honestly haven't cared for many story lines the last couple of years, and maybe there have been a handful of really great matches but I know what to expect from the current state of WWE. I know I am not going to be captivated the way I was as a child or even a teenager, but every now and then I suspend my belief and I feel like a kid again watching pro-wrestling. That is why I watch. The product has changed, just like every successful product must adapt to it's surroundings to survive. The major difference that we don't realize (or maybe I missed it in this thread) is that WWE is a publicly traded company. That means that stockholders, some of us, demand what is best for business (no pub intended) in order for us to collect our dividend and watch our investment grow. Most of us know how this works. If most of us ran the WWE the way we wanted too I'm pretty sure we would be complaining there is no more WWE. I agree with most of you the product is stale, the character development is terrible. But if you guys have followed. The stock Year to Date its up like 4-5 dollars. So obviously what they are doing is working monetarily. The only way changes we would like to see occur will happen is if there is a serious threat to what is really , but not really, a monopoly. I'm still gonna watch cause it's fun for me. So hate it if you want but our voices are too few compares to the millions of others who enjoy the family friendly product. In closing please never make another Alberto Del Rio figure.

Why are we not allowed to be unhappy with the product?
So as fans we should just give up and stop watching just because we are unhappy instead of wanting the product to be better?
Makes sense.
If it wasn't for unhappy fans being vocal then there might not be much a wrestling business left.
Fans being unhappy with Hulk Hogan doing the same old sh*t led to the nWo which ushered in huge business.
Fans being unhappy with garbage men, clowns and cartoon characters led to the Attitude era and the most popular and prosperous time in wrestling history. If it weren't for unhappy wrestling fans then we would have no nWo, DX or Stone Cold. Not to mention, Rocky Maivia would have spent his career smiling and pandering to the crowd and never would have became The Rock and achieved greatness.
So yeah...I'm gonna bitch if the product sucks when we have been given a better product and deserve a better product. I'm not gonna settle for a stale, lame, boring, repetitive, uninteresting, predictable product when I know they can do better. If you wanna settle for the same old ass sh*t like Cena vs. Orton for the twentieth time then go ahead. I may not stop watching altogether but I sure as hell won't buy their crappy PPVs or tickets for live events and will fast forward through 90% of their show every Monday.

I still watch because there are little things I'm enjoying right now. I still watch because I believe that things are going to turn around againat some point, we've gone through "down time" before with the WWE. so there's no need to be completely lost.

On the whole... I feel like the wrestlers have been putting on a good show... Most of the matches, certainly nowhere near all, but most of the matches I feel are pretty good by WWE standards.. and I'm not hating on the house style, but it's there, and within that style the workers have been doing a good job and thats why I watch. The storylines have gotten stale and that's certainly a problem, but I don't think that the product on the whole is so bad where I feel the need to fast-forward through huge chunks of the show. Every weeks has something that gets me hyped. So I take the bad with the good.
