I feel like I got punched in the stomach here.
I can only wonder now who will be behind the kit for the new SK record. And this almost affirms that the 5th album will be the last 'Knot record.

Haven't listened to them in a few years, but still really shocking news. Kind of bummed to hear.

I didn't know they were actually still together.
But with all the other things Joey does, I'm not surprised he's gone. I wonder what specifically caused it though.

I think between Paul's death and now this it signals the end of Slipknot at least for now. I can't think of any drummers that could fill Joey's shoes.

I think he wants to focus on his band Scar The Martyr. And he is on the production side of things too, he's got several credits to his name as a producer. They will complete the in progess 5th album, and then I believe they'll call it a day on Slipknot. And no one could fill his shoes in my eyes either, but someone could play on this [I'm now assuming] last record and the tour or two that follows. There's several guys who are either not.in a band [Dave Lombardo] or guys who are session musicians or do several projects at once [Mike Portnoy, Gene Hoglan, Jeff Friedl].

That's completely possible... I wonder if we'll get anything new from The Murderdolls any time soon. Come to thin of it, I need to check and see what Wednesday 13's been up to.

The Murderdolls are done for good apperantly and Wednesday released a new album back in February

I need to get the newest Wednesday album. There's a few I need to get, actually. Also, while he can't say anything about the departure, Corey did say that there is nothing from Joey on the new Slipknot record. It's mainly gonna be stuff he and Jim Root write, and Jim is actually staying back when Stone Sour goes on this small run because he wants to keep writing Slipknot material.
