Near the bottom of the card, the sides of the bubble have holes in them. Not sure if it's this way with the new ones, but why are they there?
Does Mattel like their action figures to breathe?

Seriously though, I think is because of the chemicals in the plastic and the possibility of it fogging up or clouding the bubble

I know one of the reasons the Elite's had this was the humidity from travel to store. This was to help prevent the figures with cloth from staining the figure.

Mattel is infamous for releasing a chemical into the air that entices you to buy their toys when you're only stopping in to pick up bread & milk. More often than not you're leaving with your hundredth Cena while not having enough cash for the bread n' milk.
