According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, "The Icon" Sting is nearing the end of his current contract with TNA Wrestling. He has been working limited dates for the company for the past year, re-signing short term contracts annually to give him freedom to step away should he choose to. Every year his contract expires around the start of the new year, which leads to annual speculation that he might show up in WWE; rumors that he will face The Undertaker at WrestleMania have been brewing for several years, and Sting has even acknowledged that he's talked to people inside WWE in the past, but the stars have not aligned. While nothing is set in stone at this point, Sting is expected to re-sign a new one year contract with TNA Wrestling that would see him work limited appearances through the end of 2014. He is currently advertised to wrestle at TNA's on-the-road Genesis television special on January 16th, which he will do through an extension in his contract, unless a new deal is reached by that point. Should the Stinger decide not to re-sign, TNA will suffer another blow in a long list of names that have parted ways with the company in the past six months, including Hulk Hogan, AJ Styles, Matt Morgan and Eric Bischoff, who has been quietly awaiting the expiration of his contract. www.wrestlezone.com/news/438035-stings-contract-expiring-soon-is-he-expected-to-re-sign-w-tnaThey can re-sign Sting if they want, just don't sign his shirt and untucked in tights.

I honestly don't see him re-signing this time. I can't think if anything he's done of value the past 12 months, and with TNA being the way it is at the moment, i can't see why he'd choose to stick around.
But I suppose to depends on how much passion he still has for Wrestling. If he cares about his legacy and position, I can see him leaving. If it's just about a paycheck, TNA probably isn't a bad place for him to be.

He'll start popping up in the trees, rafters, windows, and smoke before the end of the year.

I honestly don't know what's left for Sting to accomplish in TNA. After this feud with Carter, I can't think of any person he hasn't feuded with/fought yet.

Every year we get a thread about Sting's contract expiring. Every year, we hear rumors of Sting coming to WWE to face Taker at WrestleMania. Every year, he ends up resigning with TNA. What I'm predicting will happen is that the same thing we happen this year. Now, I'd rather have Sting just leave wrestling all together because his time with TNA just made me stop liking/caring about Sting. When he came to TNA in 2006, I marked out because Sting (and Goldberg) was the only guy I recognized from the little bit of WCW I watched when I became a wrestling fan, so I wanted to finally see Sting have a run somewhere. Now, I could care less if he resigns, I could care less if he goes to WWE. I just had to express how little I care about Sting now. For what I think will happen, he'll resign with TNA. What I want to happen is Sting leave TNA and leave wrestling all together,

I think he will resign, but won't be Wrestling. This Dixie Carter 'power hungry' angle will come to an end soon than later and then TNA will need a on air authority figure and I think it will be Sting.

There needs to be a clause in his new contract that doesn't allow him to wear a shirt to wrestle, and makes him TUCK IN HIS ING TIGHTS!

There needs to be a clause in his new contract that doesn't allow him to wear a shirt to wrestle, and makes him TUCK IN HIS ING TIGHTS! Way to repeat what the OP said. I like Sting. He's one of my all time favorites, but having him around and wrestle not at his best just makes me lose interest, and I'd rather he just retire than tarnish his career and keep wrestling. One or two matches a year? Ok, not so bad, but not in an out-of-shape state. Plus TNA could put the money toward keeping AJ, or re-signing others. Just have Sting make one-off appearances instead of a full year's contract.
