So as you might have heard former German and Premier League player Thomas Hitzlsperger has announced that he is homosexual in an interview with a big German newspaper a couple of days ago. What's everybodies thoughts on that?
I think he's very brave. He's the first famous football player to come out. I always liked Hitzlsperger, especially because he played for my VfB Stuttgart for 5 years and scored a legendary goal so we could win the Bundesliga in 2007. And this won't change, I don't care if he's gay, bi, a transvestite. Hopefully some other players will now have the courage to come out.

One of my favourite ever goals. I shouldn't really comment as it deserves no comment as it shouldn't matter what he is. It's just a shame people are scared to 'come out' and sometimes driven to suicide by the stigma attached to homosexuality especially in sport. Though reading Graeme Le Saux's article and the taunts he received from Robbie Fowler I'm hardly surprised.

Absolute non story and ridiculous it's being made out to be one in this day and age. Not aimed at the op btw.

Fortunately Hitzlsperger seems to believe in himself and so far he's handling the situation with his coming out making headline news and kicking off a huge discussion pretty well. I respect the hell out of him. Absolute non story and ridiculous it's being made out to be one in this day and age. Not aimed at the op btw. In Germany this made headline news. It's a shame really :/

Yeah like the others have said, no need to make a story about it but fair play to the guy all the same.
