And finally, balance was once again restored to the universe... Well kinda, they did up the team and the Puskas award. The 2013 goal of the year was scored in 2012 and presented in 2014. Work that crap out. As for the team of the year... Ugh, where do you start? Who cares, at least the main man won. Dat photoshop though...... Btw I thought that Ribery deserved it more but I dont mind with CR7 winning.I am a fan of Messi but it was obvious this year he had no chance to win the Ballon D'or.

Could see the pure relief when Ronaldo won, was a massive weight off of his shoulders. He had the best individual 2013. On a side note, I would be fuming if I was Robben with all the attention Ribery gets. This Year will be the biggest test for Ronaldo though, to see if he can retain the Ballon D'or against this time, a fit Lionel Messi.

If they are both fit this year, is what I am saying, as the previous years have shown when they are both fit Messi has no doubt been the better man.

Not saying any more than that as neither of us are going to convince the other.

In what Year when they've both been fit, since 2009 when Messi won his first Ballon D'Or, has Ronaldo had a better Individual Year? 2010, Ronaldo's first Season at Madrid was his poorest for them, and was outshone by Messi in the Classico's. 2011 was probably Messi's absolute peak Year when he scored in the Classico's, put four past Arsenal, scored the wonder goal at the Bernabeu in the Semi Final and scored in the Champions League Final against United. 2012 Messi broke the all time scoring record of 91 in a Calender Year, again can't argue with that. Then 2013, Messi was injured while Ronaldo had his best Season to date, which is why this Year, if both can remain fit all Year, it will be interesting to see if Ronaldo can retain the Title.

You've proven time and again on this board that you're biased to Messi. That's fine but I'm not going to be drawn into a debate with you about it, we've discussed it before and it goes in circles.

I'm not trying to raise a debate at all or being biased towards him. You just said you disagree that Messi deserved the previous four Ballon D'Or's, so I'm asking you what year Ronaldo had a better Season. But instead you swerved the answer.

You just said you disagree that Messi deserved the previous four Ballon D'Or's, so I'm asking you what year Ronaldo had a better Season. But instead you swerved the answer. It depends on your criteria for what the Ballon D'Or is voted on. Sneijder should've won it in 2010 for the treble & getting to the WC final. I'd say Ronaldo was a better individual in 2011 than Messi but Messi was in a much better team at the time. If that was the way that the Ballon D'Or had gone then I'd say Ribery would deserve it this year. But because people relentlessly gave it to Messi no matter what then by that criteria Ronaldo deserved it this year no question. Also for the record, when Messi got injured he was not the favourite to win the Ballon D'Or. In fact, the voting was extended less than a week after Messi was injured, and at the ceremony FIFA made it clear that the order of the top 3 did not change after they extended the voting. Therefore your premise that Ronaldo only won because Messi was injured at the end of the year doesn't seem to hold weight. He only missed a couple of games before that, so suggesting that his injury cost him the award isn't really a strong argument.

I think it's your decision to say that Ronaldo had a better 2011 that gets me. You're happy to give Sneijder it in 2010 for winning the Treble, yet Messi was undoubtably the best Player the following Season winning the Treble and scoring goals in all the big games, yet you'd give it to Ronaldo, who won nothing, and came second best in all goal scoring/assists categories etc? Makes no sense. As for your comments about Messi's 2013 injury, he suffered his main hamstring injury before they played PSG in the Champions League which must of been around March time. He was then rushed straight back in, unfit, which inevitably done him more damage, leading to his reoccurrence at the end of the Year when they finally took him out for 2 months to allow proper recovery. From March 2013 onwards he was never fully fit, and before that injury was ahead of Ronaldo on the scoring front.

One thing I couldn't stand about the Ceremony though was the amount of as* licking FIFA gave to Pele. Once again in denial that Maradona existed.
