Hey guys,
I don't know if this has been discussed at length before, but the original plan for the "Hollywood Backlot Brawl" at WrestleMania XII, featuring Goldust as then-WWF Intercontinental Champion, was recently brought to my attention.
Now, I've known for quite a while that Razor Ramon was set to face Goldust at WrestleMania were it not for agreeing to a three-year contract with WCW in mid-to-late February 1996 and the six-week "drug" suspension that followed, but what I didn't know were some of the finer details leading up to the proposed Royal Rumble rematch.
Things I recently learned about Razor/Goldust at WrestleMania:
Obviously, Graham Cawthon's "The History of Professional Wrestling - Vol. 2: WWF 1990-1999" has been an invaluable resource (in case you didn't notice lol), so I must give him all credit for the information provided in this post.
My understanding is that Razor served his suspension through WrestleMania XII then jobbed his way out of the WWF, including to Vader at April's "Good Friends...Better Enemies" In Your House, before leaving for good in mid-to-late May 1996 (the infamous Curtain Call incident being his last match, versus HHH).
I guess then the point of this thread is to ask what would have become of the Miami Alley Fight at WrestleMania XII had it happened?
These are just a few questions that come to mind to spark a discussion, but feel free to share your thoughts on this period of Hall's career (early 1996 WWF) and the possibilities of his WrestleMania match with Goldust.
Thanks,
Alex

Things I recently learned about Razor/Goldust at WrestleMania:
- After defeating Goldust via countout at a February 19 Monday Night Raw taping, Razor requested not a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship, but a fight which would have likely been termed a "Miami Alley Fight" between the two at 'Mania had it occurred.
- One day later, at a February 20 WWF Superstars taping, Roddy Piper (then-WWF President) announced an "alley fight" between Razor and Goldust at WrestleMania that was set to originate in Miami (Razor's adopted home). This segment never aired.
- The seeds of a Goldust/Roddy Piper feud are planted on the February 26 edition of Monday Night Raw when Goldust called in to an Ahmed Johnson/Shinobi (Al Snow) match and read a poem asking about Piper's bagpipe. Coincidentally, this show was taped on February 19, the same date as the aforementioned Razor rematch request.
- On that same February 20 WWF Superstars taping, Razor worked a couple tag matches to air through March 9 and shortly thereafter began serving a six-week suspension for violating the WWF's drug policy. Meanwhile, over the next three weeks, the focus began to shift from "Miami Alley Fight" with Razor to "Hollywood Backlot Brawl" with Piper.

- With WrestleMania taking place in Anaheim, would there have been a pre-taped brawl from the streets of Miami?
- Does Razor eventually win his title back from Goldust, or does the feud end there?
- Would there have been a need to feud with Vader at GF:BE if Hall wasn't on the way out?
