I'm jet setting up to San Francisco at the end of Feburary and was looking for tips.
Which area is the most fun to stay? What's the best way to get around without a car? What's the weather like beginning of March? Places to eat? ( I'm willing to break the bank here if necessary)
Other activities besides Alcatraz, Golden Gate, Fisherman's wharf, etc..?
Thanks!

I went over the summer and loved it. For travel they have taxis and many different types of cable cars and subway type trains. we ate at this garlic place which was great, id suggest googling and trying to find out the name. Have fun, its an awesome city

The city is super easy to get around without a car. There are all the cable cars and muni, up and down the wharf there are people with rickshaw style bicycles... There is BART (the bay area version of the subway), which can take you through the city (just a few stops) or over to Oakland/Berkley.
The Wharf is easily a day if you like seafood and window shopping (especially if you combine it with an Alcatraz trip) There is the Palace of fine arts. The Walt Disney family museum. The Exploratorium is cool. SF museum of modern art. Little Italy and China town (which is awesome). Japan town is kinda cool; basically a little mall. If churches do anything for you there are a ton of beautiful ones. If you like music culture/history there is The Fillmore and Warfield. If you have a whole day where you want to do a wine tour there are several tours that run from the city to Napa and Sonoma that are super tourist friendly. As far as food goes, SF has some of the best food in the world that rages all the way from mega high end, to cheap dives and foodstands. Also, it's too bad you wont be there for baseball because AT&T is one of the most beautiful parks in all of baseball.. but if your a basketball fan, Bart goes RIGHT to the Oakland arena. (you exit the station by going over a little walkway and you are right at the Colosseum, which is where tyhe A's play, right next to that is the Arena.)
