Warner Bros has just announced that Jesse Eisenberg will play Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” sequel, which has been working under the title “Batman Vs Superman.” Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot are already in the cast.
Here’s what Snyder had to say on the casting: “Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940. What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”
Also joining the cast is Jeremy Irons, who will be playing Alfred. Snyder: “As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure. He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.”
Eisenberg was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Mark Zuckerberg in David Fincher’s “The Social Network,” and is also known for films like “Zombieland” and “Adventureland.” Coming up, he’s completed Richard Ayoade’s “The Double” with Mia Wasikowska and will next film David Foster Wallace biopic “The End of the Tour” opposite Jason Segal.
This is getting worse and worse, although I like Jeremy Irons as Alfred.

I think DC is trying to make the most leftfield casting of a movie it can.

I like the idea of Jesse as Lex. He's a great actor.

Eisenberg? What a ing joke. I loathe him, only actor I dislike more is Michael Cera. This is almost enough to get me to skip it entirely

I like Irons as Alfred. I'm confused at Eisenberg as Luthor.

Never heard of Jesse Eisenberg, but googling him he looks completely wrong for Lex.
The movie seems to be getting worse and worse.

As the article mentions he got an Oscar Nomination for Best Actor in one of the best films of recent years.

I'm actually a fan of Eisenberg, however, I'm pretty shocked at his casting in this considering he's a lot younger than Affleck and Cavill. I'm guessing they're going for a 'Harry Osborne' type character.
Jeremy Irons isn't really an amazing casting choice. He's going make a creepy Alfred.

Marvel have done some pretty poor casting too... Nicolas Hoult, Taylor Kitsch, Will.I.Am, Andrew Garfield... Come to think of it though, those are all Sony controlled. Marvel's Johnny Storm is as lame as anything though. Just because he's a good actor, doesn't mean he's right for the part. I don't disagree. I was just surprised you've never heard of him. Ah ok, I mistook which part of my comment that you were replying to.

I read a different article saying they're making Eisenberg into a Bill Gates type Lex Luthor, someone worth 50/60/70 billion dollars
Really interested in the movie now that Eisenberg is in it, one of my favourite actors

I really like Eisenberg. He was great in The Social Network, Zombieland and Adventureland. I hope he has a less vulnerable role as Lex.

I really am not a fan of Eisenberg.
That said, I see him destroying this role. I mean that in a good way, I think he is going to be great.

All of those are indeed outside Marvel Studios so they absolved of blame(although I don't agree they are all bad) FF/X-men are at Fox.....and they are taking the cake with FF at the moment....ridiculous. but I digress. I like the choice of Irons for Alfred and as usual will judge Eisenberg on his performance.

It's the new reboot that they want to miscast Johnny Storm so badly . I actually liked Evans as Storm, thought he was great.

Love Eisenburg, but I'm not sure if I can believe him as Luthor. I'm not expecting much at all from this movie, but I can't miss this from Jesse.
