Also, while I'm not a big Eisenberg fan (especially seeing how he treats people during interviews) he is a much better choice than guys like Arnold Vosloo, Billy Zane, Bruce Willis and guys like that that were only part of the discussion because they're bald. The name that was thrown around that I liked the most was Mark Strong, but he was obviously there for the same reason.

like I said I wont judge on Eisenberg until I see him. It will heavily depend on the version of Luthor they portray. I want white collar criminal mastermind Lex
NOT mad scientist Luthor or zany scheme Luthor ala Hackman/Spacey.

He pretty much played Lex Luthor already in Social Network.
Irons is fine. He has a cool voice.
I just feel like there is going to be WAY too much going on in this movie and it'll be a huge clusterf*ck. I really hope I'm wrong though.

Yeah, he is bald, but he also plays an awesome villain pretty much every time he's called upon to do it. He would have made a very good Lex imo, and he seems perfect for a Lex pursuing the White House.

when I suggested mark Strong it wasn't because he was bald(LOL)it was because of his proven track record playing convincing villian's.

I like Mark Strong as an actor, but out of selfish reasons I was hoping he wouldn't be cast as Lex. If this is a hit and a retconned Green Lantern becomes a part of fold, then I hope they "pull a Bond" and keep Strong as Sinestro because that truly was perfect casting.

I honestly don't mind this casting decision. Interested to see what direction he takes Lex.

I get the impression that the GL universe created in 2011 is going to be isolated to that one film though. I know I'm in a very small minority but I did enjoy GL, and am hoping that world stays alive for JLA as well. I like all of Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner and Hal, and I'm annoyed by the idea that John Stewart would be interjected into this film when he is the worst of the bunch imo. But it does cover the spectrum of diversity. Apparently that's more important these days than anything else.

I suspect this in Gadots casting too.....that and the fact that she was probably going cheap.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXCLUSIVE: Just Who Exactly Is Lex Luthor In ‘Batman Vs Superman’ Last week Warners shocked the world when they announced that Queens native Jesse Eisenberg bagged the role of Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman Vs Superman. I’m not gonna lie, at first I was on the side of fandom that was against Eisenberg and bitched like everyone else. But guess what? I was wrong. Big time. On one hand, like many of you, I had preconceived notions of what the character SHOULD BE that was pretty much based on conditioning of watching DC animated cartoons for too many years. On the other hand, what Lex Luthor is GOING TO BE in Batman Vs Superman is pretty damn cool. More of that in a bit. There have been some theories of what Lex is going to represent in the upcoming film. My wonderful colleague Drew McWeeney wrote a good piece over at HitFix that you guys should check out as a prerequisite before reading what we have to say. Just this morning Hollywood Reporter dropped a piece that was more inside baseball that didn’t really offer any info new info. So, just who exactly is ALEXANDER “LEX” LUTHOR? Kellvin went all out, hit up sources, came up aces, and bagged DETAILS. DISCLAIMER: THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS MASSIVE SPOILERS SO IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW THEN DON’T READ BELOW. ALSO, SINCE CHRIS TERRIO IS CURRENTLY REWRITING THE SCRIPT EVERYTHING BELOW IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. For starters, let’s get this out of the way immediately: Lex Luthor is BALD. His head is shaven to be exact. But that is not all. He has another physical trait. You see, Lex Luthor is also into body art and has a detailed sleeve tattoo of the Metropolis skyline on his right arm. Lex is also the richest man on the planet who became a self made billionaire at 18. Lex is currently the CEO of Lexcorp who is one part tech genius, one part ruthless business man and two parts Metropolis street tough. Yes, street tough. At 14 Lex was living on the streets and for survival was initiated into a street gang. He learned early on that there was someone always bigger and stronger but never smarter. By 15 that street gang was answering to him. According to Lex, strength isn’t everything. RESOLVE is. So Lex Luthor is the Metropolis street kid turned mogul. My kind of tough guy. Don’t think of Lex as some goon because his eyes say it all. Behind them burn the fires of unparallelled genius. A powerful intellect enabling him to accomplish anything he bends his will toward. In the boundaries of his mind he is godlike but not a God. We meet Lex early on in the story when Bruce Wayne first pays him a visit at his 125th floor penthouse located inside Lexcorp Tower. Lex is sitting at his desk in front of an array of computer screens. Take a wild guess what he is watching on the monitors? The Man Of Steel. Don’t for a second think that Bruce and Lex are cool because they got no love for each other. They have a past. You see Bruce once called Lex as an amoral, arrogant brat. Lex thinks of Bruce as a trust fund baby. Lex considers he got himself to where he is at by innovation and hard work while Bruce by accident of birth. Bruce considers Superman an impressive specimen. Lex considers him an alien, and a trespasser that doesn’t belong on this planet. Superman is just one of the reasons Bruce came to visit Metropolis. He has an interest in the city’s tragic circumstances. More like profitable circumstances according to Lex. The rebuilding of Metropolis is Bruce Wayne’s main priority and is in town to help. Bruce believes pooling their resources would better serve the citizens of Metropolis and Bruce is willing to put his differences with Lex aside and let bygones be bygones. Lex believes Wayne Enterprises is a powerful company but not enough to challenge him in his own backyard. Lex Luthor is Lexcorp and Lexcorp is Metropolis. Despite the limitations of Wayne Enterprises, there are some things Lex believes he can use the company for. Lex’s secretary will send Wayne the contracts. In terms of Superman, Lex believes Superman can die. For all it’s abilities its not immortal. Bruce believes there can be a peaceful solution to the Superman problem. One that doesn’t involve going toe to toe with a God. Lex doesn’t intend to go toe to toe with anybody because he believes you don’t get to be a general by charging the frontlines with the rest of the troops. As Wayne leaves, you know who Lex is thinking about? THE BATMAN. But that is another story, folks. m.latino-review.com/2014/02/exclusive-just-exactly-lex-luthor-batman-vs-superman/Hmmm... Thoughts?

I like that idea of Luthor. I still CAN'T see Eisenberg playing him however. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised, not just by Eisenberg but the whole mess of this movie. I really want this to be good, because it sounds like the movie I always wanted to see growing up watching the DCAU. Don't fail me WB. Please.

a couple of things......
1)the Bruce in Metropolis thing is NML played in reverse.....not a bad idea for having him there.
2)didn't moan about Eisenberg as LL BUt I feel he is unsuitable for this version of him.IMO it will be hard to sell Jesse as any kind of street tough.
3)it really doesn't sound like MOS 2 to me......I hope Supes isn't sidelined.

Interesting take on Lex Luthor.
I'm not a big Superman fan so his world is probably one of the few I know the least about it.

Producer Michael Uslan leads an enviable life. He's been the producer on every "Batman" film starting with Tim Burton's classic in 1989. Since then he's been with the character through good times (The Dark Knight) and bad times (Batman & Robin). Uslan is already hard at work on the next big screen version of the character that we'll get to see in Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. Speaking with EP Daily, Uslan talked about the the anticipation for the new project saying: "I feel great. First of all, Zack's a fanboy, and he loves these characters as much as any of us do. Everybody grows as filmmakers, as actors, all of us in life, if we don't continue to evolve something is radically wrong, and it's so interesting to see the evolution for everybody involved and to see the evolution of Batman, it's exciting and everybody is pumped up about it. Its a chance for a new direction, and it's going to be something that people I think will be just so excited about." The subject then turned to Ben Affleck's casting as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and having been present for a number of Batman casting sessions, Uslan has a great perspective on the matter. "It starts with this, I've lived this in the past before and I'm speaking now really more as a Bat-fan than as the Bat-producer. We went through it all with Michael Keaton. I lead the charge from the first time I heard Tim (Burton) was thinking of hiring Michael Keaton to play Batman. I'd go, 'Oh my god, all the work, I've put in all these years to do a dark and serious Batman, he's going to hire a comedian!' I could envision the posters: 'Mr. Mom is Batman,' but then he explained his vision, he had a vision, and he was right. This is all about Bruce Wayne, it's not about Batman, it's all about Bruce Wayne. If you're trying to do a serious, dark superhero, people have to believe in Bruce Wayne as that obsessed driven guy, to the point maybe of almost being psychotic. A guy who would get dressed up as a bat and do what he did. So we went through the hoopla with Michael Keaton. The fans were the same reaction that I had initially, except I had the benefit of hearing a vision right away. Then when they actually went to see the movie they never wanted to anyone else to play Batman, never." "A number of years go by, and then all of a sudden the torches and the pitchforks go up, 'oh my god, the guy that played the gay cowboy is going to be The Joker? They're going to destroy the greatest super villain in history. And then after Heath Ledger's performance, when they actually went to see it, nobody ever wanted The Joker played by another actor again. So here we are, with an academy award winning filmmaker. You look at his last bunch of movies, Hollywoodland he had me convinced he was George Reeves. The Town, Argo, just really, really great quality of work. Again, I'll go back to what Tim said in the beginning, it's all about Bruce Wayne, and when you focus on it, Bruce Wayne, maybe in his mid-forties, what's he going to be feeling? What's he going to be thinking? What does he have on his plate to deal with? I just couldn't be more excited about it." www.superherohype.com/news/290529-producer-michael-uslan-talks-batman-vs-superman-casting-ben-affleck

When Warner Bros.' upcoming Batman vs. Superman was first announced, director Zack Snyder decided to use a quote from Frank Miller's famous series The Dark Knight Returns as a way to reveal it. Since then it's been established that the film will draw some influence from the series, but in what way? Speaking with French magazine Popcorn (via Comic Book Therapy), Snyder said the influence of the comic which will serve as a building block of sorts.
"The comic book will influence the history of Batman vs. Superman, on which the writer David S. Goyer and myself will work."
Snyder elaborated on the set-up that The Dark Knight Returns provides for their cinematic world, explaining that Ben Affleck's version of Bruce Wayne will serve as a good opposition to Henry Cavill's Superman.
"Ben brings an interesting counterweight to the performance of Henry in the role of Superman. He has the experience necessary to paint the picture of an older and more advised man than Clark Kent, who bears the scars of a seasoned vigilante while retaining the charm that Bruce Wayne deploys when present in the world."
Written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, the film will star Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, in addition to Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Set to open worldwide on May 6, 2016, the film also reunites Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
