I agree once razors on a legends contract, he will be made. It's only a matter of time as long as he stays on track
One reason why legends tanked that no one is talking about is no one wanted to start a new collection. Everyone was frustrated that the collection they had with jakks suddenly stopped. There are many many more Mattel collectors now then there were a few years ago. I'm not saying they should relaunch but if they did, it would have more success than when it started....how much? Who knows... But definetly more because more people collect wwe Mattel's now than ever
And I don't know how much say bill from mdt has but I remember boss bill mentioning they were making Yokozuna when it was first announced because mdt bill was a big Yokozuna fan and really wanted to work on that figure..... I'm just paraphrasing... But what I mean is that I think he does have some say in it

Well, I haven't seen any basic flashbacks that are impossible to transfer to elite yet... Well I could understand gold dust, or say doink the clown, Gonzalez jyd... I understand, I'd be pissed if they released red lod as basic s because then mdt would always reply, we already made a red lod lol... Or anvil, earthquake etc But guys like Sid, warlord, Hercules , Paul Roma, etc ... I'd rather get them as basics then not at all. And really only if possible to turn into an elite with Mattel parts only, as little paint as possibleBut understand I'm not supporting basics, just stating that's the only way I would ever accept them... Especially with new heads of figures already made as elites.... Like piper and Dugan Most people do not heavily customize like you do. For you, just getting a good headscan is all you feel you need to get going on an elite. Even though I converted an EG M$M head and lower legs (for the boots) into an elite with an Arn Anderson body, I'm still disappointed because I can't paint the dollar signs on his tights. According to my want list, we STILL do not have a MIllion Dollar Man, or grey deadman Undertaker. They can repaint Warrior and Bret for basics and give us new heads of Andre the Giant since we've gotten all of their iconic looks in elite form. But not Hercules, Warlord, Sid, etc. just so I can buy THOSE and then buy ANOTHER elite just to customize and THEN buy paint. And THEN paint it? I am not a toymaker; I am a toy collector. I just want elites.

I know what your saying man. And tbh , I hate basics... I hope if anything basic flashbacks are only of guys already made in elite form. And saving better costumes of those guys for future elite releases. And hey man, if you ever want some custom work done, pm me...

O.O

It's a custom , I don't think Mattel would touch him with a 10' stick

Thanks bebe, I had a lot of fun making bastion... It's kind of my trademark to make jobbers no one else wants to make Boss man , anytime man Oh, and another reason why legends or a separate flashbacks line could be more successful is that distribution is much better now. I've been surprised latly to find elite sets in Canada, years ago Mattel elites only came to canada every few sets , and we would get a series with only 2 figures in it. It was pretty muffed up... The packaging was different enough too... Showing only 2 guys in the series lol... Well this year I found elite 23 and was I stoked to see that

If we're never going to get another Flashback/Legends-type line, how about increasing the number of Elites per-series to 8 (instead of 6)? They're packed 8 per-box anyway... just do away with the two duplicated figures. That way, we could keep with the same format - but have 3-4 Flashbacks per series, instead of 1 or 2...

That's a great idea Steve, but the only thing bad about that is it would be alot harder to find said flashback at retail. It would be scalper bait and I'm sure nobody on this awesome forum wants that:)

Broken record comes to mind here, I do not see a stand alone Legends series/line being resurrected just to please thi internet community alone.

Stores don't want them End of story Yea I think they are fine with the flashback elites cause they are usually short packed and move quickly.

The star power available now is ridiculous compared to when the legends line was out. No disrespect to George Steele, Hillbilly Jim, or Akeem lol. Hogan, Flair, Sting, Macho, Warrior, Andre, HBK, Hitman, Austin, Rock...they may do a little better at retail I think. Some sort of reimagining of a legends/flashback series would be ideal now, especially considering how much more popular the line is now. With those names in it, they may be able to throw us an obscure 80's mid carder once in a while too. As things are now though, the idea of putting more legends in the basic and battlepack lines is a solid one to me. Some of the guys that are constantly asked for here are unlikely to ever get an elite flashback in the current format (JYD, Big John Studd, etc...). Conversion to elite may be a pain in the ass for some but at least we'd get a decent head to use. And the option would be there.

Broken record comes to mind here, I do not see a stand alone Legends series/line being resurrected just to please thi internet community alone. But the market certainly exists and is growing though, I mean that TRU 7 pack has 3 flashbacks in it and I would count that as Mattel's vote of confidence in the selling power of retro wrestlers. I do however think expanding and separating the lines would mean more dud figures in both current and flashback varieties. I mean, an elite set costs about $120 every other month, basics are $70 every month, 2 packs are $60 every other month(if you buy everything), plus store exclusives and playsets, and there's no way I think, they think, it's feasible to expect collectors to keep up with twice as much stuff to buy. I think it's better for the well-being of the line this way, and makes more sense for them to keep it as a hybrid series. I just wish we'd get more flashback basics and 2 packs because we are ready and willing to buy this stuff, judging by how fast they move(since 2012). I'd hope that because we're getting 8 per case Battle Packs, Mattel will throw us a few bones like those WM30 sets, but instead have 2 oldies in there like; Steamboat/Roberts, Strikeforce, Martel/Michaels, Bulldog/Hitman, Honky/Warrior, Macho/Hogan, etc. I liked the legends line and bought every series but the flashbacks are working real well. I say there's no need to reinvent the wheel. Don't fix something that isn't broken. I wouldn't complain if the legends line did come back though.

Well we could talk about it all day but in reality it doesn't matter what we say here, if it happens or it doesn't , it'll be because Mattel decided sit on their own, nothing said here will affect that decision. But like most of you, I can't see them resurrecting the legends line.
I'm just hoping for more flashbacks, a couple elite flashback PPV lines a year would be an awesome way to get more out, spin off series like all stars etc. Mattel's going to have to do something though, as they have far too many flashbacks to sell now that would be successful.

I don't get how people put Goldberg up with Flair, Hogan, and Sting. You pretty much get ONE figure out of him, everyone else has had multiple looks over the years that will all sell.
