Hogan, Flair and maybe Sting all on the way. Savage, Warrior, Bret Hart, LOD all signed. My question, with the success of the flashbacks, and the incoming possiblities of the 3 mega stars listed above. Plus whom they have under contract already. Is it time for Mattel to look at Legends/flashback only line?  My thoughts, dip your toe in and see if it works. Lets say Hogan, sting and flair can all be made. U put them in a first up set with say LOD and a repaint of Warrior. Elite 31 flashback only could look something like this... Hogan - classic 80s Flair classic 80's w/ robe Crow sting LOD animal LOD hawk And some random warrior or savage or hitman etc. IMO it would be a licence to print money for them. Hell u could do repaints for series 2 and they would still sell. I truly believe the legends line failed due to burn out over classic superstars AND a weak few line ups. I think the time is coming for Mattel to really look at this, at the very least I think 2 of the 6 elite sets per year should be flashback only. Thoughts? |

They do have some possible big names to come but Mattel have said the flashbacks are a working method so i guess no reason to change something that works and go back to something that didn't! Plus if the 4 FB set did good we'll see another which can get 4 big names out hopefully  |

Problem is once retailers see it as a failing line, then they are extremely hesitant to pick it back up ever. I know from working at Target for so long, they see it as they only have so much space, so if something doesn't sell its out of there in 10 weeks.

If not it's own line, they should expand flashbacks to basic 2 packs and a set of six every couple basic waves. Some flashback wrestlers have simple attires that wouldn't sell for $18 but would sell for $10(Mr. Perfect, Jake Roberts, Vader, early Shawn Michaels, Rick Martel, hopefully Flair and Hogan someday...).
As long as business is good, I guess I can't complain too much about the great stuff we get.

It didn't help the line that the lineups/attires were bad choices. Yes they should retry. Will they? Probably not

I would like them to do this, but I don't think they will.
Maybe instead, so another 4 FB line set around Legends of Wrestling. With Hogan, Flair, Sting, and Goldberg. Maybe with the new Cena, depending on the timing, and a Rey or Sheamus.
That would make sense. 4 new FBs with 2 new versions of figures that come out repeatedly.

With the big names signed or supposedly signed they can probably afford to squeeze out a few flashback sets. there are figures to anchor it. an nWo set would be cool

Nope. It working and its keeping Mattels lineups fresh because they are spacing out the newer guys.....if they hadn't got Flashbacks to use up spaces they would be burning through the current roster too quickly.
it is however time to do the following
1)2 flashbacks per wave as the norm and 3 every other wave.
2)start rolling more legends who have already had Elite flashbacks/Elite Legends into basic singles and 2 packs to keep things Fresh.

I'd like to see flashback ppv series with b.a.f's a few times a year... Or without b.a.f's but with 6 figures per series
Would be a great way to get more flashbacks and also add a few new characters

2 midcarders
1 b.a.f
Royal rumble flashback series
Wrestlemania flashback series
Summers lam flashback series
Survivor series flashback series

I always thought if they did a TRU exclusive line-up of Legends/Elite Flashbacks twice a year like Jakks' Classic Deluxe line, it could work.

I doubt they'd bring back an exclusive line. Flashbacks in the Elite line are doing well. Wouldn't mind them cranking out a few extra series that are all Flashbacks though. 8 a year isn't impossible.
