One piece of advice I always suggest is taking a look into your character's life, a moment that the character can look at in hindsight as a defining moment, then find a way to relate it back to the match at hand. Given what research I've done on your match and your character Benji, that shouldn't be too hard to come up with some ideas. I'm sure other's will have more thoughts to give you, but I hope this helps dude.

I shared this with Kyle, and it's worth noting for anyone having trouble getting a grasp on their characters.
There's an activity - I first encountered it when I was into theater, and later during a film studies class. In theater, you figure you spend months learning lines and rehearsing scenes, and only maybe the week before the show opens do you get hit with a costume and makeup, sometimes even props. A lot of the rehearsal is character study, and being that you could be doing Shakespeare in plain clothes, the idea is this:
Describe your character, without mentioning what he or she looks like, wears, or says. If you're familiar with the Red Letter Media Star Wars prequel reviews, Plinkett uses this to contrast the depth of the characters in the original trilogy against the lack thereof in the prequels.
Start there if you're stuck. Don't just write scenes. No great writer just sits down and writes scenes off the bat. They develop worlds. Take notes. Rewrite rewrite rewrite. Even if you wind up being the Stephen King of e-fedding and your rps all just sort of fizzle out at the end, the journey getting there should still wind up pretty good.

I'm sure this isn't an idea that'll work for most people but it's how I seem to develop my best stuff so here goes;
I'll get in the mood to write because I'll envision something. Either a small like 2 lines of dialog, to a whole conversation, to a setting, I'll get something in my head. I never have any planned idea where it's going, either. But I'll start writing stuff. Sometimes I'll save these little bits and pieces away for months until I find somewhere to use them. Sometimes I'll build on them immediately and write half a roleplay. And sometimes I read them back and say "this makes absolutely no sense, this is why I'm not writing at 3 AM any more".

This is similar to what i do..I find a niche moment of inspiration and try to build something rough with it...even if i never use it..or just use it in a diff. way. That said...sometimes i just write till i find that niche moment...then when i rewrite my rp...or other story etc...i have found the core and can just build around... ideas or not...sometimes the muse only knocks when you are already busting down the door yourself.

My RP is going to be up at the eleventh hour. It's not gonna be pretty but I've had so much going on these last couple weeks with a new job, putting together plans for a podcast and etc. Hoping for some sheer brilliance to strike me.

Was going to just completely abandon the Montel O'Neal character, though I feel like I would have been giving up on the show. So I'll keep him going and my RP will be up later today.

Actually finished my RP and posted it. This is the first time I've ever done an RP from start to finish in one setting. Next i'm going to try to push for 4,000 words per RP, I really think I can do it if I manage my time more.

Think of it like an ongoing comic book - the time frame is always present, but it's not "real time", so there's always a little wiggle room for retroactive continuity.

I liken it more to pornography. A brief snippet into the character's lives, always coming at the sweetest time in the day, with very little acknowledgement of when it is or what day it is.

Alright fellas, here's a mother's day message from your bitter ol' pal, SYE.
If your mom is even a bit part of your life, give her a call or a visit, or acknowledge her if you're still living at home. My parents are going through this weird phase where they think my old man is going to comfortably retire in 4 years (note: he's not). Their retirement plan involves living in a f*ckin' trailer in Florida from October til May, and a f*ckin' trailer an hour north of me here from May til October. Problem with option 2 is I won't go up there, because for as much as it's fun to write fictional stories about, I'm not a fan of illicit drug use, which is rampant up at this place, I see four years until my parents are pretty much out of my life, and my eventual kids' lives.
I tried setting something up with my mom for today, because I have some pretty neat news to share with her. Her response was essentially that she'd come down if I really wanted her to, but camp (as they call it) did JUST open on the 9th and they really, really want to be there. I dropped the issue, but still tried to do the right thing and call her up today to wish her a happy mom's day, 'cause she's still my mom through the fog of thinking life is some Jimmy Buffett song - no answer.
Fortunately I've got a mom-in-law whose values put family atop of everything who we're going to shower with adulation today for being there for the two of us. Hug your moms if she's still around today, 'cause mine is and won't even give me the chance.

A lot of the anger, angst, and shitty parenting I write about with Ashley in Schneider roleplays is directed towards my own mother. I'm not going to go into exact specifics, but I just found out from her Thursday that I have a pretty serious health issue, that I've had my entire life, that HAS changed my life for the worse, that could've been fixed with simple medication. I was ON said medication, but she pulled me off of it before I was even old enough to know "hey, I probably should be taking that.." and pushed the issue under the rug. I'm sure this is a demon in my closet I'm going to have to address at some point, but right now, I'm marking it down as a mother's day lost for years of poor decision making on her part.
