Super excited at the apparent news that Flair has signed with WWE. But im so concerned that Mattel will use rubber for his robe that ive felt the need for a petition against it!
Lets just all voice our approval for a cloth robe and hope the MDT read this.

Do people just forget about Brodus Clay or especially HTM or what? They'll never do an elaborate cloth robe, but if they remade CS2 Flair in red, that's not out of the realm of possibility for them. Flair has no deco aside from the white initials. The robes with more flare and feathering? Yeah, that's probably gonna wind up being the plastic material, I admit.

Havent Mattel also been having big profits for the last few years? I dont buy all this they cant afford it. At the end of the day its a billion dollar company saying they cant afford cloth. If Jakks could do it theres no reason Mattel cant. They need to go all out for the big names and Flair is a big name. Cmon Mattel, quit the excuses.

Depends on the robe. If it's one that has feathers and such then I would want plastic like Goldust's. If it's just a robe then it could be cloth.

Mattel can afford it, they can afford to do anything. But it's just simple business that the LESS they spend on the figures, the more profit they will make. This is why we get rubber clothes and the majority of the attires are all black. Every once in a while they'll bust out a great attire like Elite 27 Fandango or RVD, but they make up for it by cheaping out on figures like Billy Gunn not having a proper boot mold or Road Dogg and Billy having rubber shirts instead of cloth ones like they should have.

I'm not sure you are sure what you're talking about. You realise that these figures are made to make money, right? When something isn't in the budget, it doesn't mean it would cost more than the Mattel bank balance, it means that means it costs more than they can justify for a figure that retails for a certain price. What do you think "the excuses" are covering up for? A secret anti-cloth conspiracy at Mattel HQ? Personally, I am hoping for a plastic robe. The Goldust and Regal robes were far, far better than the ones that came with Rick Rude and Texas Tornado. Mattel, like Jakks and the custom figure clothing people, are completely incapable of making cloth robes at this scale without either sacrificing detail or them looking weird on the figure.

As has been stated, we're probably going to get a mix. Some are simple enough to be cloth. Others (feathers) are most likely to be plastic. And I'm cool with both. At this point, just give me anything that looks good. Both of my mattel Flair fixups are robeless since I didn't have any spare jakks ones. So anything will be welcomed on my shelf.

For his very first Mattel figure and knowing he's a legend and 2 time hall of famer, you can bet Ric Flair will have a cloth robe.

It is a cloth conspiracy you're on the Mattel payroll so back off punk! You're working under the table for the MDT just like Russo is working under the table for McMahon at TNA! Cloth is in the budget. They are just cheap buggers.

Cloth is in the budget. They are just cheap buggers. How do you know it's in budget? Like the other dude said they are in this to make money. Its just that for every £0.50 they can make on profit from using cloth they would rather make £1.00 by using rubber. Thats my analysis anyway and im sticking with it!

No more cloth , the minute it stains a Flair figure , all we will hear is how Mattel sux and blah blah.. There cloth shirts have QC issues that plastic doesnt have if you can take it off correctly.

Look, I'm with whoever said that if they could make robes for Mr. Wonderful & Damien Sandow - they can do a Ric Flair robe, even with the feathering. Exhibit A: How much harder would it be to do this? Doing the feathering doesn't require actual "feather" material - it's just a different kind of "liner" fabric around the trim. Look at his retirement robe that JAKKS did - it's just courser material sewn to the robe. Exhibit B: I'd actually like to see BOTH a cloth robe Ric Flair and a rubber robe - they would do a fantastic job with both.... PLUS, if they can make Macho Man's jacket look this good - they could do a Ric Flair robe. Exhibit C:

I'm sure we will get a nice Flair Exclusive from RSC with robe. Retail its possible but they would have to skimp on other figures in that wave.
