95 King of The Ring, wrestled all the way though what 08-09? Highly athletic for a man of his stature. Not saying he will be first ballot. But some day he absolutely deserves a spot. He's had a highly memorable career To each his own.

I get what you are saying, but of course people will react and post their thoughts when a popular wrestler dies. I liked Mabel/Viscera, but when he was still living I wouldn't just go make a random thread about how I really like him, or anyone else.
But now, sadly, that he has passed, it's just time for people to show their respects.
The dude had many fans, but that doesn't mean they would bring him up everyday.

Its this way with everything. Phillip Seymour Hoffman wasn't that talented in my opinion, yet he overdoses on Heroin and suddenly people want to praise his work everywhere. Guy was a C list celeb.

For most of his career, yes, he was a C-list guy, but that changed after Capote, kind of like how Paul Giamoti did after Sideways. Sure, he wasn't the biggest name by any means, but he was far from an unknown. Though, I will say, I always did like him. But I like a lot of character actors. As for the heroin overdose, it's only sad in the sense that death and addiction are sad. I don't think it's some huge tragedy, though. It's not like he died saving orphans from a burning airplane that was about to crash into a cancer treatment center for puppies.

Mabel, Viscera or whatever you want to call him was a big part of my childhood so it is sad and yes even though he was overweight it was still a shock.
I was not a fan of his but he will have a special place in my heart if not for nostalgia purposes then for the cocaine limo story which, true or false, is still my favorite wrestling story.

I must know this story... To Google! Anyway, I'm not sure if it's true or not, but Sid Vicious crapping his pants during his 'Mania main event was pretty memorable. Especially since 'Taker had to get a big whiff when he did that tombstone.

I always wondered - why didn't he go before the match? seriously? if I was main eventing, hell if i was wrestling any match, I wouldn't want that "feeling of fullness" if you know what I mean.

This isn't by any means a slam at Mabel, it's too bad he died, but sadly we all have to one day which is freaky enough when you stop and think about it. But I find it a bit funny that it seems every wrestling fan on my Facebook, and even on here, is saying how they enjoyed Mabel and such - yet before he died, people would bash him for being a lousy worker, and how he shouldn't have had a push in 1995 and such. It can go for any wrestler actually. If someone dropped dead tomorrow, every fan would say "I liked him, he was one of my favourites, I always enjoyed his work" and so on. Why is that the case when a wrestler dies, everyone all of a sudden becomes a fan of his - albeit even if its for a few days??My guess is that is *seems* like everyone is a fan of a certain wrestler because those are the only people feeling compelled to speak. The people who weren't fans are staying silent out of respect for the dead or the backlash they would get for having something negative to say.

I always liked him in Along Came Polly, I'd heard his name a few times but never really had a face put to the name until he died. LET IT RAIN.

People always blow up wrestlers who died to be better then they really are. The obvious exception being Beniot of course. Savage was huge but was rarely talked about on this site until he died, then he became the greatest of all time. Everyone talks about how Owen should have been World Champion, bologna! Owen was a hell of a worker but he wasnt world championship material. It's curious how Owen was not championship material with the likes of Austin and Rock around, however if it comes to this time the guy would have like 10 world championships on him.
