Come on now, The Simpsons doesn't really count. They aired exactly ONE full episode in the 80s.
To answer the question, I'm not sure if I have one because I hate shows with laugh tracks.

It's Garry Shandling's Show. Showtime's first sitcom. One of the first regular shows for the Fox network (edited and re-purposed). A show that ignored the forth wall, deprecated the sitcom genre, and the characters were aware they were characters in a sitcom. Funny stuff that pushed the envelope.

This tough. I'm a HUGE sitcom guy and most of my favorites are 70's-80's. I'm going to have to say Cheers is my number one. ALF, Charles in Charge, Who's the Boss, Punky Brewster and Facts of Life are in my top 10. Can Roseanne count as an 80's sitcom, since the best seasons were the earlier ones? If so Roseanne kicks Cheers out of the number 1 spot.

I loved watching ALF.
My brother had every episode recorded on VHS expect a couple from the last season.

Best 80s sitcom... Gotta be ALF for me. I still laugh my arse off at that show when I watch it today.

Gotta go with Cheers. Great show. Especially when they introduced Frasier.
