Help with custom ring...

I am making a realistic ring out of metal. My question is, I am trying to make it bounce sort of like the SAR. Any ideas on how to do this? I was thinking of having a middle steel sheet in the middle, hung on by springs sort of like a trampoline, but with steel. My friend had the idea of sewing the a steel, wood, or plastic piece in between the fabric for the ring skirt, and making the fabric really tight.

Any ideas on how to do this?
